Purchased an Int. Wiper switch for my 2017 SR I have watched three different videos and two more step by step photo install. I cannot get the center clip that hold the switch in place to budge a bit. Any suggestions ?

Be persistent but gentle....of course, it's only the old switch...that you can't do anything with, Right?

Day two.... Tab still won't release....Toyota seems annoyed that I want to have a technician look to release the tab for me. My money is just as green as the next guy's. Next week I look for a reputable repair facility. There goes all of my savings from getting the part from a wrecked 2017 Tacoma. They have cautioned me before (about voiding my warranty, as I just bought it as a Certified used truck)when they found out that I had a "Rostra" mfg. cruise control and a key-less lock system with auto-start installed. They won't or can't be bothered to install these aftermarket features, when you ask. Just burns me as the supposed hard part was getting the steering wheel enclosure off, according to the video's...which was a breeze.

Thanks "Mojlnir" for your support. When you look at pic. # 6 you will see a small slot. My switch has a little (looks like a tab release) in that slot. I've pushed, pulled, moved left and right...and if that is all that is holding the switch in.....nothing happens. There is only supposed to be two tabs to release. The one on the bottom is straight forward....you can see the little hook, and you just push it down, with the tip of a screwdriver. Got that. When I look my replacement switch, it doesn't look like the second release tab is in the middle, as pictures and video's show. It is further up on the switch. So the replacement I have has two fish hook type tabs and a catch area where that bottom tab is. So in other words....the replacement switch looks to have 3 release tabs.

I can't comment on the three tabs on your switch....but I distinctly remember struggling with that center tab on mine. I kept wondering "Is Moe that much smarter than me? He made it sound so easy!"

I finally found one of those itty bitty screwdrivers with the clip that fits in your shirt pocket (4" long?) and managed to gently ease the tab up enough to release it.

Maybe 2-3 minutes after that, I had the whole thing installed and back together. Be firm but gentle....

I did mine just a couple of day ago. It is just a matter of pulling that tab up. What seemed to work is I pushed in on the wiper lever to release any tension as I was prying up the tab with a skinny screwdriver. Then I wiggled it right out.

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!!
Many thanks to "Mojlnir" for the small screwdriver tip and hats off to "Volt" for the tension suggestion. From the top of the clip, I got behind it and pulled out slightly on it with the driver while using an inward pressure on the switch.

Who out there is having like a slight shaking....shuttering.....etc. in their Auto transmission on the 3 gen Tacoma's? Ford used to call it "Hunting". I have the 2.7L. Toyota tech acknowledges the issue on a test drive with me, but Toyota doesn't have any answers. Seems to be most prevalent at speeds 55 and above. Also happens just before shifting on an incline, or without shifting on an incline. The Tech privately told me he thinks the 2.7L in the 3rd gen are not enough power for the transmissions, or modifications to both over time make them so that they are not paired up so well anymore. I have 19K miles on the truck, and not very happy with the performance. My last Tacoma was 2nd gen with the 2.7L and that seemed to have more balls. No shuttering, shaking, etc. with 93K miles. Smoother acceleration that the 3rd gen.

Two things: 1) I use the ECT button on my commute and in the mountains; 2) I'm convinced that, with the double overdrive in the transmission these trucks are under-geared. I'll go to 5.29s in the future and fully expect the truck to drive much better.

Just SO glad I didn't get the V6....
