I see there is a simple fix for intermittent wipers and I could probably install that in 30 minutes…. I also see some Tacoma owners say they have installed Cruise Control….
    Here’s the problem….
    I want to add BOTH….
    It’s a 2014 Tacoma 2 Door
2 Wheel drive with the 2.7 engine.
ANY advice would be greatly appreciated….

A little of this and a little of that.
    Welcome to TW Kevin.

Back in 2017, I bought a 2013 regular cab Tacoma for my daughter and added a Rostra cruise control. Kit p/n 250-1836. As long as the clockspring in your truck has a connector for the CC on/off stalk, it’s a straightforward install. Route a wire over to the ECU behind the glovebox and done.

    https://www.rostra.com/search.php

The windshield wiper stalk was an easy plug-N-play replacement for a stalk with intermittent functions. I can’t remember if I bought it from Rock Auto, EBay, or Amazon. Search any of those places and you should find what you’re after.

    Good luck!

Hi Kevin, there are several YouTube videos about this and if you search the second gen forum you should find a lot of information. My 2015 was a fleet vehicle and was as basic as they come. Cruse control and intermittent wipers are among the easiest of mods. Just as simple as changing the wiper control stalk and adding the cruise control stalk. If you need more help let me know.

EBay has good used parts for these by looking up the original part number.
Used in many models so the chance of getting a gently worn one is very good at about 1/3 of the price.

For future reference, is this a 5 lug truck?

If so, we have a 5 lug forum.

Many things are common across platforms, like your current questions. But many things are not, like suspension, brakes, etc.

Thanks for all the help guys.
For reference, it is a 5 Lug.
I guess the question I have is this.
Everything I look at either shows them replacing the stalk with cruise control OR for intermittent wipers, but not both.
It has the turning signal stalk on the left side of the steering column and the wipers stalk on the right side of the steering column…. So how do you add both with only one stalk on the right side? Is there a stalk that actually has both, because if not, I would have to choose between one or the other.
    Correct ?

Its been a while, but I believe my info is correct, Its two stalks.
One for the wipers, and a smaller one for the cruise. The cruise is NOT on the wiper stalk like some other vehicles.

Hope this helps clear things up

A little of this and a little of that.
Correct @D2. The wiper stalk is its own and the CC stalk is its own, located slightly below the wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel.

The cruise stalk moves with the wheel. Wipers do not.

Mine came with cruise as part of the convenience package, but I added the intermittent wipers, which was quite easy.

Mine is a 13. And yes that's the odo as of today.

    Awesome pics.

My truck came with nothing, and I added Cruise and Wipers by adding the stalks. I was lucky in that my clock spring already had all the connections.
If your a manual trans, there may be another switch you need to buy from Toyota. Its for the clutch pedal. It a switch that lets the ECU know if you've depressed the pedal ( this is different from the one that lets the ECU know you have the pedal to the floor in order to start it )

Thank you guys SO MUCH for your help.
I called Toyota a while back and they said they will NOT add those as after market, so I’ll have to do it myself.
I see the wipers is extremely easy from the videos I’ve seen…. That part about the wheel moving with the CC made sense…. I’ve never even thought to look there…. I will check it out in the morning…. Such great responses….
    Great group !!!!
If anyone has the links to the best videos and/or the link to get the parts I need, I would really appreciate it…. I’ve seen so many links, but I don’t know which ones to trust…. Thanks again guys….

Hey guys, I talked to the Toyota dealership about doing both for me and he got pretty upset…. Acted very mad for me even asking…. He said “NO !! It’s not safe to put after market CC and/or Intermittent Wipers on that truck !!”
Weird…. Anyway, I know I can do the Wipers easily…. Can you guys watch this and let me know if this girl has everything pretty well correct on the CC install…. Thanks for any help….

    Hi Kevin,
Yes I think Faye is a reputable source since she was on All Girls Garage, I used her video as well to help me. One thing I would do though is research the correct part number for the new cover since hers is an older Taco. I had trouble researching mine and ordered that part number in her video and it was incorrect for a 2015. Yours being a 2014 I would think it would be similar situation.
When I bought my parts, I bought used OEM out of salvage yards on EBay for the cruise control since I could get one with the wiring attached.

I did buy the wiper control stalk from Amazon non OEM and I regret it. It does work but I hear relay clicks which makes me think it won’t last. This is why I suggest OEM for long term. EBay is Much Cheaper than the stealership prices and usually you can find the correct parts with little wear (photos of the product you getting) online and shipped to you.
Do NOT forget to remove the battery connection when you are working with removal of the air bag!

If you want to order Original Toyota new parts here is my source https://autoparts.springhilltoyota.com/

Tacomaholic has a good video for the wipers https://youtu.be/p4Dh3kFDbAs?si=haVzkIsCQUFcqww_

    be

    In the video, he says:
“And they all do come with the intermittent wiper switch feature. To my knowledge I believe the only Tacomas that do not, at least for the 2nd Gens, are the ‘Base Models’ & maybe the SR5’s”

So, I don’t know if he means the “base model” doesn’t come with the intermittent stalk OR if the base models don’t come with the option of ADDING a stalk…. Any thoughts on that ?

Adding the stalk is possible. He means the first part of your statement. I have a base fleet vehicle 4x4 which had standard features deleted from the order. For example, I did not have keyless entry. Upon research and asking other members here I found out that deleting the keyless entry was possible when the company orders from Toyota.

i inspected my truck and sure enough, I did not have the module for keyless entry nor the external beeper that chirps when you lock the vehicle. I successfully installed it with simply plugging in a module and getting a key fob (and programming it).
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/door-control-receiver-missing-solved.839186/#post-30043444

I also did not have a backup camera which I believe is also standard.
Simply finding the correct camera and plugging it in was all that was necessary.

What I found out is the 2nd gen’s don’t have all the VIN specific junk that modern vehicles have today.
You really should have no problem installing the intermittent wipers by simply changing the stalk.

Thank you so much for all this help and your knowledge…. I am gonna try to find one that’s OEM if that is possible. For the wipers AND the CC…. She makes that CC look SO easy to install…. Is it really that simple ? I am very mechanically inclined, so I know they won’t be a problem if I can just find the correct parts.. As I watched the video, she doesn’t have a lot of wire to be routed everywhere, just a few plug ins and the wires are on the stalk already.

IIRC this will also fit Camry 2009-2011, Corolla 2009-2013, Tundra 2008-2021.

So you can shop here in our BST section, local junk yards, ebay, Amazon or other online places.

I paid $90 from a forum member as opposed to the $160 online prices I was finding.

You can easily get this done, totally independent of the cruise situation, and have it up and running in under an hour.

Worry about the cruise later, as I'm guessing it will be more complex.

As Hardscrabble pointed out as long as your clock spring can accept the CC wiring it should be an easy install as well.
    Good luck!
