So my intermittent wipers went out on me tonite on the way home. When I turned them to intermittent they were on low speed for about 5 minutes and then they returned to normal. Anybody ever have this happen or know what to check?

I had a Ford Ranger years ago and the wipers started going out. Sometimes they would work, sometimes not. Turned out to be an intermittent switch went bad. Was a simple fix. Was a small box mounted under the dash on the inside of the firewall. Bought the part and had it fixed in about 5 minutes. Dealer wanted several hundred $ for labor saying they had to remove all kinds of crap to get to it. Layed on my back and reached it from the floor w/no problem.

Was this a mod you did or was it installed factory?

I have a 2 speed wiper switch you could buy. Wouldn't have to mess with all those fancy speeds.

I have a 2009 and this exact thing happened to me the other day. They were on low speed, put them on intermittent, and they stayed on low for a few min. I have not been able to duplicate the problem since. I dont know if it was a coincidence, but my stereo volume was stuck at the same time. I have had the volume issued before, but never tried the wipers at the same time.

OK, so it's been about a year since this post with no wiper issues. Tonight driving home I had the same problem again. Could this be the wiper stalk? :notsure:

It sounds like the intermittant issue with your intermittant wipers may be a faulty stalk that was stock.:D I would wait until it happens more than once a year before forking out the dough to replace it though.
