To determine if one wiper stock fits different models, get the stock number for the Tacoma and go to different models (year, make, model) and see if the number matches.

I am sure ... although if I am wrong I am sure that someone will point it out  ... that Toyota does not waste their time assigning different stock numbers for the same interchangeable part ... just a suggestion.

I guess I am of the opinion that a little effort and research goes a long way ...

Just a guess that all of the wiper stalks are compatible.
Why would Toyota make different parts when they don't need to?

The only difference that I've seen reported is that on some, turning the knob "up" may either increase or decrease the delay.
On mine, with the knob turned "up" to the "widest" white stripe, my delay is the longest.
Whether this is the result of people ordering alternate part number or what, I don't know.

But really... why dick around unless you're talking about yanking one from a junk yard?
If it's a junk yard part, it's going to be cheap enough to make a mistake (it'll either fit or not fit, it won't fuck the truck up).
If ordering new, just order the right one....

I'm dicking around because if I just order a new one, it's $114.00.
So when I read a post on here saying for $26 bucks a 2006 solara stalk fit, and he got it on eBay, I am interested.
To me, modding isn't just ordering. That's part of it, but most of my mods are frankenstein nature..
    That's why I'm asking.

And like I said... ya, if you're getting a "junkyard" part or a pull from another Toyota, then ya, it's worth it if it'll work.

I suspect it will... been reading that they are compatible, but I don't have anything solid to back that with.

Personally, for $26, I'd buy it and if it didn't fit, I'd sell it for $50 on SolaraWorld.

Just bought a 2012. No intermittent wipers. Was a surprise, not something I thought to check.

I'm kinda glad you mentioned that. I traded in a 2005 Tacoma for my current 2012, and the first time I drove in the rain I could have sworn it was the opposite from what it had been on my previous truck...but also figured I could just be going crazy! On my 2005, I'm pretty sure the "widest" stripe was the fastest setting.

Thanks for this thread guys, especially the Picaso photos in Rolands album, i was able to know exactly where i needed to push the trim. The exchange took all but 20 minutes. i left the truck running for trim removal so i could swing the wheel. the top pieces pulled right apart and squeezed back together with no problem based on the photos above of knowing where to push. Thanks Roland.

I installed the later part number in my 2012
    wiper switch 84652-02610

the top thick dashed line is the most frequent wipe, with the lower thin section being the most delayed. you can call it a mind game, "thin part for least rain"? lol idc as long as it works :)

also, it wipes when you rinse the windscreen too. so now i can mist like a human being instead of some thug having to manually select to wipe off the fluid.

im very relived that this mod was plug and play. because the prior set up is absolute utter BS. i never even thought to check for it when i purchased the truck.

I have one of these plug and play for a 1st gen Taco. It's on my website for anyone interested. 15 minutes and you'll have intermittent wipers. If interested, click my sig and go into my store.

One stick skinny means less rain, on the other it means wiping less often.
One stick fat means more rain, on the other it means wiping more often.

Yes, mind game usually from brand to brand but now year to year within same gens. Stupid.
