I am trying to change out the two speed wiper with the interval wipers. Have the new one ready- was able to unplug the wires from the bottom of the wiper stalk but can not remove the old stalk. Don't see what is keeping it there but it won't budge. Any ideas why it won't come off? Afraid I'm going to break it but pulling on it isn't working.

You have to push the tab back with a screwdriver to pop the old switch out.

Any word on if older camry or solara intermittent wiper switches work on the 2012 Tacoma? Saw someone mention it earlier in the thread. They are only $20-$30 on ebay.

Check the part numbers in earlier posts and see if they match the ones on EBay.

I don't think the part numbers match but if it still functions and gives me the intermittent function, I would get it. The contacts in the pictures for the 2006 solara look like they match the Tacoma's, 4 then 2 contact setup. Does every year of the Tacoma's wiper switch work on the 2012, with just the backward issue people mentioned?

The only thing that works backwards is the intermittent knob.

I'll check which way makes it wipe faster but it does work 100%. I didn't really pay attention to which way I roll the dial speeds up the swiping loll. An added plus is that it does a swipe when I hit the mist which the standard one did not.

wow thats pretty awesome man.. !!

thats cool that it was a direct plug in (im assuming you didnt have to rewire or solder anything)

do you remember the part number for the exact one you bought?

yep plug and play...it did take a lot of fighting with the steering cover to get it off and i didn't really realize i had to poke the harness with my screwdriver to get them off so i played with those a bit too but it was 100% plug and play. I bought the whole steering column including the headlight switch for $40 but I looked up the part number and it looks like it is 84652-02610 ? not sure but it was advertised as a 07 08 09 camry combination switch if you want to look for one too. Happy hunting.

    I used 84652-04141 on my '08.
It has words, not symbols, and the delay operates intuitively.
The wide part of the wedge is at the top.
    This is the longest delay.
As I rotate the knob toward me, it speeds up.
When I hit the highest speed (shortest delay), I continue the same type of motion and pull the lever down a notch to "slow"

People talk about the speeds being "reversed"... but I'm not sure exactly what "reversed" means... some seem to like the widest part of the wedge to be the shortest delay.

Yeah mine has words too. I think it works the same as yours Rich. I never paid attention to what symbol or graphic meant what, as long as it works haha

I used wiper stalk 08462-02710 which is for 2012. Scroll up and look at the stalk in the pictures. The wedge is wider at the top, the wider the wedge the shorter the delay. As it is turned to the skinnier wedge, the delay increases. With wiper stalk 08462-04141, the wider wedge at the top means a longer delay. This is the "reverse operation". It depends on what way you want to turn the delay knob to increase or decrease the delay.

On the original non delay stalk, if activated the washer, the wipers did not activate. I had to turn on the wipers to clean the washer fluid off. With the new stalk, the wipers are also activated with the washer.

Now I consider this to be backwards.

On the Chevy's at work, "off" is next to the narrowest part of the wedge, which is the "barely on" delay setting. Progress through the delay to full time on, then fast.

I pull down on the stalk to move the wipers to the higher speeds... I rotate the knob down to increase the speed.

If I had the '12 stalk, I'd swap with someone.

I'm thinking this was their reasoning: narrow=less=less frequency. Wide=more=more frequent wipes. With other companies they equate the width of the line with the length of the DELAY between wipes.

im just glad my wipers are intermittent now....

and more i check out this site the more mods i see. Do you guys know if the 2012 V6 base tacoma's are prewired for backup cameras how easy it would be to do? Is there an easy way to add the temp or a compass too? There seems to be so much thats just prewired waiting for a part to be swapped in. It's kind of nice (expensive) to have all these options haha
