Have had interstates in my old chevy's for years and never had any issues. Electric fuel pumps are a whole other issue - don't get me started.

can't resist this one: I bought a sunoco batt.W/ a lifetime warranty, in nov. 1975, for my "66" chevy. when it died, and I went to replace it I was told they no longer make a lifetime batt. and that I could either get my money back or get a one time replacement none lifetime battery.
app. 2yrs later I get a letter from the federal trade commission saying if I still owned the car I should contact sunoco, and that they "WILL" replace the batt. for as long as I own the car.
last year I put another "free replacement" batt in that car. got lucky on this one. I can buy any batt., send them the bill, and they reimburse me the cost, thanks to someone who knew enough to contact the FTC.
I've gotten very good service from DELCO FREEDOM batts.

A couple years ago we went with interstate batteries for our farm machinery. The 1000 ca one in our tractor did pretty well but the smaller ones we had were done within the year. Buy a durastart battery from walmart or a sears diehard if you can find one. All of our durastarts will crank right over at 20 below if their at leas 650 cca.

Took the truck in for its 36 month check up a few days ago. Had a coupon for a free battery check. Dealership calls and says I need a new battery, $145. I said ok. Called them back and had them check the in service date of the truck. Still under warranty. Left with a new Interstate MTP-24F, 85 month warranty.

Aw hell, just noticed I'm in the 1st gen board - oh well. Loved my 2000 Tacoma. My brother has it now and says the family fights over who gets to drive it.

This ^^. I've run Interstate batteries in my vehicles for years, and never had a problem with them. I'm currently running an MTP-24F in my Tacoma, which sits outside.:( (No issues yet - 2.5 Colorado winters and counting...) Although it's a "black & white" battery, it's one of the most powerful commercially available (1000 CA / 800 CCA) and comes with a 30 mo free replacement / 85 mo pro-rata warranty.

All of that said, I'm sorry to hear about your problem, Jonathan. Given that your battery is only a year old, have you confirmed whether it's still covered by the initial free replacement warranty that most (all?) new batteries include? Given your monetary situation, that might be the best short-term solution.

I never had problems with my green/white Interstates, always felt they were reliable. I really like the Duralast Gold I have now, though, seems to crank really robustly unless it's ridiculously cold, like below 10 deg F. Came with an 8yr warranty, I believe.
