    2006 Tacoma Reg Cab 2WD 5spd
    Hello all,

I recently purchased a 2006 reg cab, 2WD, 5spd Tacoma with 70k miles and a Toyota-replaced frame. It’s mechanically sound but does need (or deserve) some cosmetic improvements.

I’ve enjoyed learning about the truck during my first couple weeks of ownership and have already used the 5 lug forum to find some answers.

One thing I haven’t been able to determine is why there’s a fair amount of radiant heat near my right foot while driving. There’s a black plastic part to the right of the accelerator pedal that is almost hot to the touch. Any ideas (see second pic).

    Thanks, Ryan

The heater lines and heater core are behind that, hot coolant circulates through there at all times so it will be hot in that area.

That was my suspicion based on a few other threads I saw. Thanks for confirming Dm93.

Welcome to TW, fellow 2nd Gen RC 5-lug owner! :hattip::wave:

Here are some pictures of my 2010 RC against the backdrop of some Canadian wildfire smoke exactly a week ago (I live in Southeast Pennsylvania). My dad bought the truck new in September 2009 for me to drive when I finally got my learner's permit, and he signed the title over to me in December 2016; I currently have over 172K miles on my truck, and I have a slushbox instead of a 5-speed, but I also got the Toyota-funded frame replacement in November 2021!
