Hey everyone. Long time lurker. Bought my 00’ pre runner SR5 in 2007 when I moved away for college. The old girl got me through college, med school, and now almost all of residency. Finally added a beater Silverado to the family so that I can put car seats in the back. The free price was right. But now that I have a second truck I can finally get after the Tacoma and do it right.

Doing some major suspension upgrades in the next few weeks; ome shocks struts and springs, freedom uca, new LbJ and lca bushing, tie rods and steering bushing. Should I plan to use new cam bolts? They aren’t rusted as I loosened up a few years ago to add a 2.5” spacer up front with ome leaf springs.

There is no guarantee they have not become frozen in that time. I would mark the position of the cams on all 4 bolts and then loosen them to verify they still move freely. Then use the marks to put them back to where they were.

You can also have a full set of new bolts and adjuster pieces on hand just in case. Then if you don't need them, return them for a refund. This is something I wish I had realized before getting all the way in there only, to find 3 out of 4 were frozen and had to be cut off to be able to remove them.

Decided to go ahead and go to the kpoffroad octagons. Might as well while I’m in there. I live pretty deep in the south but not on the coast so rust is not an issue here.

If they’re frozen you’re going to need more than just new Cam Sleeves.

Correct. If you have to cut them off, you are gonna need all 3 pieces.

No, the bolts and the Nut Cam/ Eccentric almost always survive. You’ll need new bushings, and or new arms, and new Sleeve Cam/ Sleeve Eccentric.

They aren’t frozen. Just was wondering if it was worth an upgrade but like I said I already bought the kit from kpoffroad
