Intro to fitting 35s (< 3" Lifts for those that wheel and love alignments)

I have to replace my tires soon and I was thinking about going to 315/70/R17 tires (right now I'm running 285/75/R16). What wheels should I get? Or at least what backspacing and offset should I be looking for? The first post says 4" backspacing, but the few manufacturers I've checked don't make a 17" wheel with 4" backspacing. To fit 35s, is more backspacing desirable? I was looking at the SCS Ray 10 (4.3" backspacing, -10mm offset) or Method 701 (4.75" backspacing, 0mm offset)

Idea i had for keeping the fender well liner since the intake inlet is up there. Havent gone full stuff on the 35’s yet so im hoping i cut enough, only time will tell when i get out there with it in the near future. Most likely more kinks to work out but i like the way it came out.. for now.

Someone else said the same thing lol. Hoping i dont have to cut more of the fender flare... will probably end up cutting more lol.

Yeah i had to toss spacers back on because of wheel rub on the control arms. Mentally prepared to cut more off lol. Expecting to go that far with it

 

Do all the aftermarket UCA make it harder to fit big tires?
Is the adjustment to the SPC arms to fit tires just making caster worse?

 

check out my response to your thread. In a nutshell, SPCs can give you more clearance and reduce caster, or reduce clearance but improve caster.

 

For y'all who didn't need to cut your fenders, what backspacing and width are your wheels?

 

4.0" backspacing and 8" width.

I’ve been lurking hoping to get into this at some point.
Quick question, what are the cv angles looking like and are they holding up?

I noticed this full droop pic from a link in one of the posts a few pages back, to me it looks pretty severe.

 

That’s when the truck is in the air. The cv angle people are talking about is when the truck is sitting normally. Most people agree 2.5” is as high as you want to go before the fins touch and likely will get cv boot wear prematurely.

good rule of thumb is that the fins shouldn’t touch when the truck is parked.

 

outer fins touching is fine. its the inners that shouldn't

 

I'm not sure if anyone is still posting here, but what about KM3's in a 35" with a 20x10 wheel, and spacers???
