I’ve always had to remove/install with the Drifter overhang. Blake just happened to be at VO HQ while I was there. He let me experiment on the install. It worked out well. My hands are still healing from all the razor cuts... That plastic forming tray is sharp!

The new 3rd Gen Stingray[edit](now referred to as a Side Shooter) Cover is coming soon!

I believe we are on our last prototype. I will have pictures soon. I didn’t want to put any pictures out till we have finalized the design/fitment.

Prototype 3 has been evaluated now for the 3rd gen Tacoma. I’m still not entirely satisfied with it. However, it did allow for some more brainstorming and I think I’m going to try another design format for prototype 4.

These antenna covers are very difficult to get just right. But, I hope to have something more to report next month!

I figured I’d drop this photo as I’m probably not going with this design language after a review of this model.

Welp... this is a no-brainer for those with racks. Broke one of the clothes hangers getting it out (and a couple knuckles, went through the back window method), but this wouldn't be working on a toyota without that happening, so...

Tools used... most of these used on my rack.
    20200606_120331.jpg

Before... stoopid camera didn't save the pic, but the top of the shark fin was contacting the bottom of the rack slat.

    After... nice!

    Looks great!

What rack system is that if you don’t mind me asking?

[Edit] Looks like possibly a FrontRunner rack system.

Yup. Frontrunner. Tent on back. Gear on front.

Truth be told, neither have I. I am still waiting on my 040 paint so I can do a paint match install.

The bullet cover currently on my Tacoma is an older prototype. I still haven’t installed a production model yet. That’s actually been a good thing, as I have always planned to do a paint matched version for myself. Just to do it and see if it’s a viable thing or not. Now that there is no Drifter overhang(temporarily till the Nomad arrives) I feel like it’s a great opportunity to finish the install video as well as check visuals of a paint match.

Plus, 3rd gen Tacoma antenna is out for final process/material fitment. I think this design is it. But I always say that. I’d say we are on the 5 yard line, staring down the end zone.

Alright 3rd Gen fellas, here is the last working prototype for the sharkfin delete. It’s been through many different shapes, revisions and material tests. I think we have a winner here, finally.

Keep in mind, it’s a rough print and the color is not correct. But that’s not what really matters at the moment...

I’ve settled on the product name of the “Side Shooter” antenna cover. It follows inline with the “Bullet” cover and the “Side Saddle” brackets.

I’ll create the email list of all those that said they were interested and send out a little note for a heads up.

I also want to verify if this design works for the 5th gen T4R as well. And possibly the new, 2020 Tundra.

I’ll be a guinea pig for your side saddle on a 2020 tacoma with xm and maps haha. Have heard the design on it is different again.
I will need to figure out something before the end of the year when my Drifter is finished :fingerscrossed:
