Fyi if you buy used, the caps from access cabs and double cabs wont fit as well as one that comes off a regular cab.

On the regular cab, the rear portion of the cab is more vertical than on double cabs or access cabs. Just something to be aware of when youre shopping around

Agreed. I for sure remember my 4 cylinder having the power to pull up some of the hills out on I-45, in Texas, and even maintain speed up some of the more robust hills out west in the Hill Country. Maybe a bad catalytic converter can have such a big impact on power that I now have to downshift to 4th just to maintain speed. My hope is that the catalytic converter went bad by way of allowing too much flow, as in not enough back pressure, and the engine is suffering. Getting “back” my back pressure should help, and perhaps the LCE Header will further improve the situation. Then, assuming I hit the lottery, or save for a year, supercharger. Haha.

Yes!, that’s like the only thing I knew, haha. Found that out looking for an ARE Overland cap. Dimensions are the same for the Access Cabs (only ones I looked at), but ARE replied to me that they recommended against using one on a regular cab, for the reason you named.

Update on today’s progress with my truck in the shop for LCE Header, new Magnaflow cats, and OME Kit — there was little progress, haha.

Got a call that all of the exhaust work is finished, and that the work went beautifully. Then, the second part of that conversation in which I was informed that I had forgotten to include the Pro Comp 6 spline lug nut key, needed for getting the rims off my truck.

A couple of phone calls to source the the lug nut key, a flying trip to Houston in late afternoon in the rain (4 hours round trip), and key is in-hand for the guys tomorrow morning.

Still could get my truck back tomorrow afternoon, but they lost a little time today by not being able to get started on the suspension right away.

And everything was going so well —

Lug nut key purchased yesterday was the correct one. Dropped it off at the shop this morning, and while there got to look at my pretty, new LCE Header and Magnaflow cats. Friend was starting on my OME suspension as I drove away.

Then, got a call late afternoon, UCA bolt hitting the body on the passenger side. Driver side too, but a little sheet metal bending solved that side. Bolt on passenger side will have to be cut, and another bolt is on order from Toyota and will arrive on Tuesday. Once they have that they can complete their work and I get my truck back!

    It’s always somethin’. Haha.

Nothing new to post till Tuesday, so this was the window tint I got last summer. Went 10 years with the truck without it, and what a difference it made. Huge difference in the ability of the A/C to cool the cab last year in Texas — darkest I could legally go.

Oops, those are for 265’s. I’ll have to read to see if those are available in a 285. Sorry for the mistake.

Just looked at Nitto’s, Yokohama’s, Coopers, even Michelin’s. Nada. Poop. It’s the impossible dream, haha.

I got Plucky back this afternoon and I am in high cotton. Everything (well nearly) turned out better than my reasonable expectations. The shop that did the install did a good job, the UCA bolts came in on time this morning, and buttoning up the front suspension went smoothly and according to their plan. And, I got to road test everything for about 20 miles before having to go home.

Here are the results of our collective labors, the few issues/unresolved matters remaining to be addressed, and my revised future plans. With before and after pics.
