I have a 3rd tacoma with the OEM outlet inverter which is rated for 400W and 120VAC. I calculated that this equates to 3.33A. I have a device (electric kettle) that is max rated at 1500W and 120VAC which is 12.5A.

Can I use the kettle in the OEM outlet inverter albeit the kettle will take significantly more time to heat at a lower amperage? Or will the breaker pop immediately? Or will the battery drain quickly?

You will most likely just trip the overload as that's almost 4 times it's rated output.

Pretty sure the 400 watt power is only when the engine is running. If the engine isn't running the output drops to less than half.

Hopefully the breaker or fuse trips.
Burnt wiring becomes the fuse otherwise.
