its just the beginning, it all depends on if they are liable in the crashes either way the stock price more than likely will start moving in a downward spiral, although it did go up yesterday $2.59 a share. definetly a solid company regardless of what happens

Anyone buying some Levi's today? Looks like IPO price is quite a bit higher than anticipated, not good for the retail investors.

oh lookee there, no options trading. Too bad Robinhood STILL doesn't have shorting. And if they were offering options, I would def be buying some puts.

Also can someone explain what the Q in TSLAQ means? All I have deduced is that TSLAQ is almost a moniker for an inverse stock related to TSLA, aka bears love to use $TSLAQ when talking shit about TSLA. But what's the Q mean?

I agree, and it would probably pay off, but look at YETI. That one has shocked me, I thought there was no way it was going anywhere, but it did. I wouldn't buy into these IPOs as a long position though, too much risk.

Been watching Yeti a little since their IPO, thought about buying some but didn't. Don't trust IPOs all that much.. no telling which way they'll go or why. And you could really get burned (a la SNAP or APRN).

That being said, I do swing trade with NIO so.. take what I said with a grain of salt haha

I think the problem is that all of the people with big money got in before the IPO. I have heard a lot of them will dump their shares when it goes public. A lot of risk for the little guy in these.

yep, it can happen for sure. And you have no idea of where the resistance will be.. so I prefer to wait and see what happens for a while before jumping in. NIO has the tendency to hang around $6-7 and randomly spike to $10+, I just buy and sell around those price levels.

New here but have been watching for some time . I have been retired since age 52 and am now 60 . Am I wrong with the thoughts that the climate change and such , have changed what stocks will go up with no relation to whether the stocks are profitable or not ?
Example , I suffer with Ford and ATT , for the divs. I see the world is changing but am looking for divs to live on .

Since I don't feel like typing out a novel:
    https://www.investopedia.com/terms/q/q.asp

So yes the bears will use TSLAQ in conversation when slingin mud
Good thing I bought in when it was at like $1900... I'm still long so I'm not worried a bit!
The current geopolitical conditions have shown that the stock market really doesn't care what the earnings of a current stock do when dictating stock price. Instead, it is largely being impacted on CEO guidance, future outlook, etc. What I will "recommend" is that you find companies that are positioned for long term growth, have strong management teams, and are delivering consistent growth over time. I think that T (ATT) still has some long term potential, but Ford is on a decline that is currently not being outpaced by the dividend that they are paying out. For someone in your current position (I'm making some assumptions here) you just need some stability in your returns/payouts from the market. I wouldn't swing for stocks that are in a strong growth phase with much of your portfolio. Look at the charts of say T, F, VZ, and HD over a 5 year period. I have a feeling I'm about to get a little lost in the weeds here...

T - Steady financials, and showing growth on the top line. However, their somewhat regular earnings misses means that they have fallen out of favor by the overall market, and their stock price reflects that. I wouldn't necessarily give up on these guys long term.
F - Declining financials YOY, and their stock price has steadily slid to reflect this. Unless someone knows something that I don't can't imagine this trend changing favorably anytime soon.
VZ - Steady (but not increasing) financials. However, they have remained in favor in the larger stock market as they have returned earnings beats quarter after quarter. Their stock reflects this. They have a decent dividend. That said, I say that they are subject to an earnings miss. If they come in under they'll get sliced since they aren't increasing revenues YOY.
HD - So-so dividend payment, but they are delivering solid financial results. I don't honestly see that changing soon. Solid backbone for a portfolio, but won't make you dividend rich.

Alright, I just realized I got a little off track for your real question so I digress... Where is your current allocation for dividend returns? Are you invested at all in say real estate or anything like that to diversify that income stream? Or have you focused your efforts on the household names?

lots of volatility today and yesterday.

I was less than 5% down on UWT.. now it's back to over 10% :( Guess I'll keep holding this bag a little longer

Biogen? Sounds like a pharmaceutical company. And to me, all unknown pharmaceutical companies are pump and dump scams.
