Hahah yeah, thank God it was virtual. We started playing the stock market 'game' at literally the worst time in the market's recent history.

Honestly don't know. The Fed increase is one of many moving parts, as far as considering banking stocks a good investment, IMO. If I were looking at financial stocks, I would probably look at the bigger picture (i.e. Current administrations fiscal policy) to get a better gauge of where the industry as a whole might head.

they raised it 25 basis points, which was already priced in. the bond and stock market would sell off if they raised it 50 basis points.

Honestly, it’s a crapshoot.... the market doesn’t always behave like it should be since most of what drives it is sentiment. I know for me, I’ve stopped trying to predict the market, and just trade the trend. Takes the second guessing out of it

with the exception of ROKU still on the downtrend, I'm still in the green. The gun-weighted stocks seem to be unaffected.

Ended the day down 700 points. I have a feeling there’s more pain tomorrow for the market. Let’s hope I’m wrong

haha yeah, I'm not going to put any more money in for a bit. This could be a fun ride with everyone freaking out about a trade war. Though, I really don't know how anyone benefits from such a thing :notsure:

was it OTC market? That might be why. Some places don't trade OTC... only bigger markets

does your job not do a 401k plan? I am not sure how you can do a pre-tax investment plan without going through your employer. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

pretty much, I think it's a lesser known market.. usually filled with scam companies and pump and dump schemes lol

hm... I would definitely do some research on non-employer sponsored pre-tax investment plans. I want to say a Roth IRA is the next closest thing, but I'm not sure. Whatever your plan may be, the incentive to use pre-tax money to put into investing that you use for retirement is something you definitely don't want to miss out on.

The way I see it, I lose 30% of my paychecks to taxes, so it would take a 30% loss in my 401k balance to even break even on what I would have had if I had kept that money in my pocket.
In contrast, you would need to have greater than 30% gains in after-tax investments to break even on a 401k account with 0% gain :) buuut of course you can get that money out whenever.

I believe the max contributions are classified by person, not by account. So you could have multiple Roth accounts registered identically, but as soon as you reach the IRS limit on contribs for the tax year, you are maxed out...regardless if the contribs are in Roth A, Roth B, Roth C, etc. or if all in Roth A.

so apparently I lied. A 401k or 403b is tax deferred, not tax free. Meaning that you pay taxes when you withdraw, even after you are eligible to do so. So that puts a damper on your retirement (thanks government ).. so your Roth option that you have now, kinda gets that tax part out of the way first. From what I have read, you are not taxed when you withdraw after you are old enough. I would honestly rather have that. A 401k gives you a false sense of how much money you have until you are ready to retire. I don't know if the amount in which the two plans are taxed is different. I would be surprised if it was.
