Do you know what it takes to sell expensive electric cars to Chinese peasants?

Pinterest and Zoom IPO today for anyone living under a rock. Think I may wait a few weeks then buy some Zoom. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thinking about zoom, I just had a automatic sell order execute so there is a little cash to play with. Not enough experience on the ipos to know when is a good time to jump in.

Found this as a sanity check 334 customers make up 30% of the profits- https://finance.yahoo.com/news/pint...to-avoid-another-lyft-disaster-123844031.html

Yahoo referenced to read the S-1 -here is the overview https://medium.com/@alexfclayton/zoom-ipo-s-1-breakdown-119249acadd3

Looks encouraging- The part that gets me is the over evaluation coming into the market- I'll read some more and reevaluate tomorrow.

Edit: adding that I was looking for the trade symbol and came across ZOOM- up 38% this morning!- its not the right company  but that was the one to own yesterday and sell today.

NIO is up 7% today so far. I wish I had bought more but, this stock is a bit too see-saw-ey for me to do that.

Zoom yes. Pinterest no. Zoom has profits. Pinterest has no profits. Zoom sells real stuff for real people. Pinterest sells advertising space. Zoom will be like YETI. Pinterest will be like Snap.

Zoom is now on market. Gonna wait a few days for the stock to settle. 75% gain before it hits the market is a little... much.

I am watching ZM and PINS on CNBC and they're showing the tickers by the second. It seems like you can see when someone dumps their IPO shares with a huge drop that goes right back up.

Zoom down slightly after "real" opening. Pinterest down slightly.

Educate me - Zoom had a market evaluation that was Supposed to put stock in the mid $30’s. I presume that is an evaluation that takes its current company value divided by the number of shares being offered.. how is it it that hit the market at $65 right out of the gate? Then I hear things that after IPOs there can be a second stock offering made available. That sounds more like company bonds for raising cap total then shares to me.

A coworker told me that a penny stock called “Zoom Technology” was up some ungodly amount today because a lot of people confused it with the Zoom IPO

I have wondered this as well. Also, when it starts selling on the open market, they immediately say it’s “up 75%.” It may be up for those invited in at the IPO price, but it’s flat for the retail investor who bought it immediately on the market.

Perhaps the IPO is priced to sell (the company)? When a company sells a percentage of their income gets tacked on the price. I don't remember the math but there's a few general formulas for it. So that $30 price could be just company assets, and the IPO price including speculative growth/earnings. Just spitballing here

Heres a little perspective - “valuation comes in at 52 times 2019 sales.” So what is a healthy valuation? (value+speculation = two, five, ten times sales?)Basically the market is too hungry for fresh stocks...

Cramer: Overvalued stocks like Pinterest, Zoom could lead to a market peak - CNBC https://apple.news/ANOd6Y-uiTmiQuqgokBWNOQ

Is there any kind of consensus on Robinhood? I'm thinking about it... can't find too much negative on the interwebs

whatever Cramer says you should do, do the opposite. Didn't he say Lyft was a darling? It tanked 30% in two weeks. Now he's talking shit about a profitable company? K.
