I went to the provident credit union down the street and showed them my credit karma they said their rates would still be around 3.8 so I guess I'll have to flip a coin on paying off or not

 

I think rising interest rates (Fed. funds rate) indirectly affects things like consumer loans. You probably could have got a good rate several years ago. I am going to look into refinancing soon but don’t expect a better rate than I got a few years ago.

 

Depends. Mortgage rates took a nosedive last month. Seems tied to the 10yr tnote

 

Yea lately some strange stuff is going on with rates. The yield curve went from flattening to steepening while all rates plunged. Not sure what’s going on lately.

On another note, futures are all way up. Not sure why?

They’re all over the place tonight. I don’t know why I even bother following along lol

 

I dont think were getting a trade deal this week, or an extension for the tariffs. I believe we would have already heard about one of it was going to happen. At least stuff will be on sale next week.
I'll just keep checking Twitter for the official announcement.

Right now China is trading up about 2.5%. Not sure I can figure that one out. I think Trump might be at the point he will take any deal, to save the markets and score some political points. We’ll see I guess.

 

I'm not so sure about that, the US economy has been okay with a year+ of tariffs, I'm sure China is feeling the pinch by now.

 

That’s true, but our stock market is flat for about 15 months. I think Trump, whose biggest concern politically is the economy, will want something to brag about when election time comes. If he doesn’t get this right we will probably be in the red over a long time period.

 

Well we all know the stock market doesn't equal the economy. The markets are of course pissed about the trade war. But the economy has been fine..

 

That’s true but we also see how much Trump talks about the stock market’s performance during his presidency. I agree though, measuring the economy has little to do with the market.

 

I think the stock market has that consumer confidence factor going on right now- My thoughts is that Trump ratchets up the tariffs - my thinking is to allow time for the effects to hit China and close a deal with them before the 2020 elections...

 

I'm in this boat too. He can't mess around to much longer so hes putting pressure to get a good deal before the next election.

 

The RNC is still over a year away. I would say that's the latest this gets resolved.
