I've been watching 3x leveraged oil or natural gas stocks... but it's a lot to stomach and I've been only mildly successful haha

well my portfolio hit new highs, but sadly I haven't done much reading outside of what I've already got. Need to spread the wings a bit.

Go buy some T, it is on sale for 5% off today. I’m not sure why. It’s my favorite company and largest holding so I can’t add to it right now.

Edit: I see that some firm downgraded it, probably so they can add more!

you know, i don't currently have any telecommunications.

I was also looking at kohls huge discount today. Wondering how they may fair this coming year now that they've fully integrated Amazon returns and it's the holidays.
I'd expect strong Q1 for 2020, but who know's after that.

It may not be the best time to buy T (even with the dip) because it has run up a lot lately. Still, a steady dividend of almost 6%, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

idk, to me it seems like it's a last ditch effort for Kohl's to stay relevant. I'm not sure how many people will actually do that. I could be wrong. I appreciate the thought behind it, from a marketing standpoint, but the shift in consumer trends is something you can't really fight.

Liking T here , bought in at average of $31. Watching OXY after the big Buffet -Berkshire buy in in 3rd qrt. , waiting for the end of year tax loss selling lows ? , Also wanting some more Dow inc. Both for divs.

Didn't Buffett get into OXY on some kind of preferred share deal with an 8% yield (something like that)? I wonder if that really equates to him starting a position, or just taking advantage of the situation.

Also worth a look is ABBV. It too has run up recently, but pays over 5% and is a dividend aristocrat.

Ha! Well isn't that interesting... Doesn't surprise me given that everyone going to $0 trades. They'll have to party up eventually if they want to make money.

Anyone mind sharing their performance this year? My brokerage keeps track of it so I can just go look at the percentage. I am just below the S&P 500 on the year (PR), but with dividends added (TR), I'm probably close to the same as it. I guess having 34 positions that are about equally weighted just turns into an index fund. The only difference is my yield is around 4.5% so I get paid out a lot more. That's what I was going for so I can't complain!

Not sure my YTD, but I'm up 44% on my individual brokerage (which is about 10% of my overall portfolio) in the last 365 days. My retirement portfolio is only like 7% YTD but that is because I've been on a more defensive mix. I just moved more into VDIGX which is the dividend fund and reduced my "money market" (aka nothing but t bills with some lackluster interest) holding so now we will probably have a 20% correction haha.
