    Purchased. June expiration.

I feel like the current sell off was more people looking for a reason to take profits from a market steadily marching upward and less about long term issues. And from the last time we sold off and The Pres. was pushing for the fed to cut rates I thought it was likely the same thing would happen again. We’ll see how it turns out, maybe they cut rates and we pop higher, maybe they don’t cut as much as people are going to price in and we dump again. I have limited experience or time to research as much as I should, so I don’t put much in anything.

Let's see... set aside about 10k, and learn how to write a covered call. Place it about 1mo out on a business with good fundamentals, and watch it work. Watch how the bid/ask prices fluctuate over the course of time, and watch what happens come expiration day. Itll teach you a lot, help shield you from hilarious risk, and hopefully make you a few dollars.

I'm certainly not you advisor, but if you fire me over something that you're looking at I can at least give you my .02. I won't discuss a specific trade out here in the open

I've thought about doing that. But I'm not really there yet with my risk tolerance to capital-to-leverage ratio yet haha

Ha this thread isn't even in the top 20 threads as far as monitoring for fuckery... if you've noticed I dont really throw the hammer around in this thread. Only think I've done it once actually, and have served up a couple reply bans in here. As long as people are talking about how the political world is impacting investing activity I allow it. Start interjecting in your opinion and/or start bickering about politics in general I'll gladly see someone out.

I got banned recently, then it went away an hour or so later. Not sure why or who did it, but I have snuck a few political shots in so I wasn’t too surprised. All political shots related to the market of course :D

My "regular" and "SHTF!" portfolios went from 5.2% spread to 2.9% spread after today.

So political news that affects markets is allowed just not opinions? Seems very fair because the two are so interconnected

It's the Fed's fault! Interest rates too high. Should be 0

    heh

Wonder how the markets will react to Super Tuesday results? Then the Fed meeting is in two weeks

That's my stance, and I moderate this thread as such.

HOWEVER - Do not take this as a politically open thread. Ex, I dont want to see you posting a presidential tweet with DISCUSS in the post. That's not what we're about here. Take a breeze through how the discussion has gone so far. Stay in that lane and we'll be fine.

Haha. The fed is supposed to be apolitical and it’s all going to depend one how one candidate does. The market only cares if it looks like he might win.

it's a crapshoot at this point IMO. But if bernie gets it I see the markets reacting very little.. maybe down some but not much. Natgas might get a bump just because he talks about banning fracking a lot (actually natgas and oil both had good days today as well). Either way I don't expect it to be significant move after tomorrow. Bloomberg though? Markets might go up a little... :notsure:

Probably, but if it looks like he has a 50/50 shot at the general election. I expect something like last week maybe more this Oct

I would expect a quick crash if Bernie is elected, but nothing for the long term because I’d expect almost none of his policies to ever take effect. But I don’t think he has any chance of winning so not worried. I’d say Bloomberg would be ok for the markets.
