Do they buy and sell so fast that they're making fractions of pennies on every trade? I have heard of something like that. The part I don't understand is, if they can do that, why don't they always do that and always cause this volatility?

Nashville is a cool city, it's midsized but the growth here is exploding, go downtown and look any direction and there's 15 cranes each way. I have yet to visit another city with the amount of cranes taking over the sky as here, and I've been to Boston, London, NYC, and Miami in the past year. The city has changed a lot over the past 5 years I've been here with zero signs of slowing down.

Not real sure what the appeal is, but for me it was definitely "jobs" being the #1 reason I moved here, my other realistic options were Atlanta or Birmingham AL which were both Hell Nos from me. I thought I'd get to enjoy the country music aspect of it, but I've grown to really hate the poppy/bumpy/clubby backing track in all the songs and sissy-bros that are the new face of country that pervades this city. That being said, there's TONS of talent here in every genre. I would never try to make it in the music industry, seems very risky. I'll stick to my job in data science and play guitar at home after work.. lol. But when you go to any bar with live music, expect the talent to be top-notch. There's lots of hot women here, but 80% of them are tourists so don't get your hopes up unless you're a fuckin A+ pickup artist lol

Left side vs right side of same house. The house across the street looked similar. Both looked like semi-mobile homes FWIW. the houses next to it had the roofs ripped off, maybe a wall collapse. The houses further beyond were mostly fine. This is north nashville. I would say it was solid F2/maybe F3 levels here.

I think we are going to see more selling tomorrow. I think it has spread pretty far undetected and as the test roll out the cases are only going to go up and create more panic.

It really does look like we're in a bubble that's getting too big BUTTT i think an argument can be made that lots of this market is genuine growth. Figuring in streaming services, AI, weed/cbd industry, electric cars, space travel possibly opening up, composites like carbon fiber becoming affordable, little computers in everyone's pockets, distribution growing insanely quick and so on.. We did take a huge step back in 2008 so I understand the common fear of that happening again. However, in the grand scheme of things we recovered well and there is so much happening now that just wasn't around or barely around in 2008 even. So maybe everyone wants a crash because that's what it looks like should be happening but maybe where we are at is right where we should be and that's why the market is clawing back still???

I tend to agree with you... I think that the market makers are fighting to keep the market regulated to help curb panic avoiding the waterfall drop that many of us are "expecting". I think that the big boys are trying to prop up the market to keep everyone from just bailing all at once and having it plummet which is why we are seeing +- every other day.

Like I mentioned before though if this news (BELOW) continues to trickle out it won't be good in the short term. My vote on tomorrow is a fairly level day after today's dump. No significant upward or downward moves market-wide. 100% SPECULATION Vote.

I should put a poll in this thread that I reset every day... WHAT WILL THE MARKET DO TOMORROW?

We are in the longest economic expansion in this chart without a recession! Not fear porn, but we have to imagine it's in our future somewhere. Maybe stay cash heavy which will give you opportunity and your cash won't lose face value like your stocks, etc.

I'm well aware of inflation and the loss of purchasing power. But the truth is $100 bill is still $100 bill not $50.

I am only sharing thoughts from my mistakes in the past.

I say it's going down tomorrow, people dont want to hold over the weekend with the virus uncertainty. Monday morning if the virus spread count only goes up by 50 or so people in the u.s. over the weekend, it will go back up a good bit monday.

If the news Monday morning says 1500 new cases or something. Then itll drop in a hurry

Carnival Corp (CCL) got cut in half and is now yielding over 7%. I’m not enough of a risk taker but that could be a good opportunity.

My guess would be that you’ll see more sell off as the numbers grow for people who test positive for the virus, which is going to increase exponentially with a slew of testing that’s going to happen over the next week as they roll out more and more tests. This thing is here and has been for weeks spreading so I’m expecting the numbers to jump. As @Boyk1182 posted just above , there’s going to be opportunities presenting themselves as such like carnival. I see this happening for a while until the hysteria wears off and we have a better idea of how severe this thing really is or isn’t and we are not reading fear porn all day long.

I think starting a position in CCL now, and keeping on buying, averaging down as it falls, and selling it all when it doubles could be a way to double some money within a few years at the longest.

I agree. . I think it will take some time for the cruise industry to rebound but the masses forget things quickly and I’m sure business will come back over the next few years after this black eye for them.

Futures are down over 1% on S&P. China has some big news coming out this weekend their balance of trade and foreign exchange reserves info Saturday. I'm expecting this and other bad news driving more selling Monday

yes, but the real truth is if the real panic does ever occur (it won't be announced) that $100 bill could be worth $0 in the morning because there is nothing real backing it (read gold) its just a piece of paper!
its dangerous to keep any significant holdings of cash or cash-related instruments (read bonds)
this scenario is possible BUT hopefully not likely to happen here as it has in other countries, but you never know
all it takes is a loss of confidence in the USD $$$

remain a diversified owner and if the crap does hit the fan, when the dust settles you still own something, and not holding a bunch of worthless green paper
