What pisses me off is the same "tools" used to get us into this shit show are going to be doubled down on to bring us out. That really sucks because that means negative interest rates, which the fed has been talking about/wanting for a long time now, which is yet ANOTHER tax on your money. So not only do you have regular taxes, you have the hidden tax of inflation and now negative rates in the future.

I really wish this Keynesian economic disaster just ends and we can go to something stable. Again optimistic dreamland with slander time.

Not too worried about the market long term, it was insane high, look at pre 2008 DOW numbers, has our economy really grown that much over the past 12yrs? No.

Negative rates won't save us, they're the last resort of failed economic policies. I'm sure someone will chime in about Japan / Europe, but those are nations of savers, we don't save anything here.

I don't think that lowing interest rates will work this time. There is way more debt that money in the world. Not just a little more 2 or 3 times more debt to money. They are going to have to print alot of money and that's going to devalue the dollar.

Not totally true I have been talking with some of my friends in the shipping and warehousing business and they are saying they are getting slammed. The fall and winter of 2019 sucked tho.

And that's exactly why they will try them here. "Yea they didnt work there but they will here".

 

And we have that debt due to the low rates for so long.

Yes almost a decade of low to 0% interest rates. Which would work until you shock the whole system. Shut down the USA then have a recession and companies can't make their payments and go bankrupt. It snowballs from there to people defaulting on home and car loans to the point that banks go bankrupt just like 2008

 

I'm going to be there to invest in the companies that planned ahead. If you want a safe investment berkshire hathaway has 128 billion cash on hand right now. Warren Buffet was just waiting on this so he can buy other companies cheap

 

I'm talking shipping within the US. Intermodal traffic is related to container ships not coming in and out of china. The second story is due to excess capacity in the system.

I interviewed at a few shipping and rail companies recently so I've been reading LOL!!

Im glad as a household we are 100% debt free (besides the house), my wife and I and extreme cheapasses if we need to be and can weather this storm a bit.
