That's why I don't mess with pharma companies. Very low trading volume and massive price fluctuations.

Wondering if anyone can answer this. Like I said above, I have a managed portfolio that I don’t really touch. I have noticed that it makes its biggest jumps after hours. I understand after hours trading and how that works, but my earnings for the day will triple or quadruple between 4:00 and later that night. Definitely not complaining, just wondering.

Edit: Throughout the day, it is updating by the second, so it doesn’t seem like it’s doing some kind of calculation after trading ends.

like your 401k? I'm not sure why it would jump after hours often. Usually it will only change a little, unless a bunch of companies have a big earnings surprise all at the same time.. or some other reason. Do you know what's in your mix?

It is set up in Merrill Edge Select as the most “aggressive” managed portfolio they offer. It’s definitely aggressive, it is mostly ETFs (88% is in equities, a little in fixed income, almost no cash).

Well square is up today but VSTO is down. Dow is dropping as we speak. Not sure if square will end in the green today

the yield curve is about to invert. couple that with the bond market selling off, and the failed attempt to prop it back up, could be a very bad sign of the next recession looming. same thing happened during that last 2 recessions (2001 and 2008).

This is currently showing april 2018. You can see the 10 yr and 30 yr are almost the same right now. If you add a comparison, you can add 2001 or 2008, our last recessions, and will see during those times the yield curve was just as flat as now.

Of course, the dunces over at CNBC and other mainstream media outlets will not even discuss this. They will only gloat about how GE is taking off today:facepalm:

Hmm. Anyone know if I can tell fidelity to park my money out of market for a while?

But what if it doesn't crash..? Or doesn't crash for a few years..? I would ride it out (well I plan to at least).

I use fidelity too, for my 401k. For our plan, the closest thing we have to cash is a 'capital preservation' fund. That is what I have most of my principle in.

Just FYI, he’s been talking about the market heading for a big recession for multiple years now in the precious metals thread. Just think if you had listened then.

If you try to time the market, most likely you will be too late and it will crash 20% or more before you have a chance to react. Better to be proactive rather than reactive.

That is absolutely correct. And big recession is absolutely going to happen. When it does, it will be the mother of all corrections.

Hence why I also invest in PM's. To preserve wealth and to act as an insurance against the failing dollar.

I know, but you may also miss out on good time (assuming there is some)..

I would just hate to pull everything out and then nothing happen.
