Wow first time in a while we aren’t at futures limits in either direction. It’s red. But still not at a limit. I’ll take it.

I hope you're right! Ford makes their Super Duty, Expedition and Lincoln Navigators in Louisville. I have many friends and family that work for Ford directly or indirectly. My dad works for an auto glass manufacturer and they do a ton of Ford glass. It would be a real negative for the state if they were to go under.

Which is why I was posting it. Just an alternative point of view/opinion.

Ford won't go under. Ford and GM won't, at least. FCA could, but unlikely. The small automakers might have a tough year like Saleen, and the tuning houses Shelby, Hennesey, etc. Depends how long this whole thing lasts.

    In other news:

If this is true, GS doesn't see a problem lasting more than a few months/recovery this year.

Every single time a new one pops up, we hear how the world is going to end. EVERY SINGLE TIME. How are we not numbed to the ridiculousness yet???

    Some of us are.

I suppose a lot of it boils down to how secure people feel -- and much of that has to do with how prepared they are, how dependent on infrastructure they are. Food on hand, cash on hand, financial reserves, access to water, etc.

I mean this one is worse than SARS in terms of control and number infected. But I read a headline today (to be fair didn't read the whole article) that something like ~20% (I think the headline was 17%) tested positive and were asymptomatic! Let alone those who do show symptoms and are just fine. Same as flu, don't go infect all the old people. Only difference is that there is no vaccine, so there's no chance gam gam has the antibodies from the flu shot.

The only thing we can confirm is worse with this one is the media coverage. I think we'll have to look back in 10 years or so to truly have an idea of death rate, R0, total cases, etc. The numbers they're putting out now pretty much mean nothing.

I’ve read several places and heard that NCLH may be the better investment. They made over a billion dollars last year and are better positioned for “down time”. Of course, it could all just be propaganda so I am invested in both. lol

I am on the fence still about CCL. It may get so low that I just can't resist, and then I'll take the plunge. It is dropping to levels I never imagined. If they file for BK, that might also be bad (also might not). Lots or risk out there now with the potential for lots of reward.

I don’t think it’s too late. Still looking at quadrupling your money if it returns even remotely close to previous highs

I’m no pro, but here are my picks

ALL, BA, CCL, NCLH, V, AXP, PLNT, OSW

I could probably be a bit more diversified, but all of these are good companies. Idk about OSW though. I only got them basically because they are way below their IPO and they fall under the cruise line tank. They also rode well above their IPO before the Covid19 crap.

Edit: I’m not a financial professional. Invest at your own risk. haha

Really, for those of you talking about vehicles and auto makers. In 8 years I could really see myself in a Rivian pickup. If you don’t know what it is then look it up. I do know that the next vehicle I buy for myself will be electric and it will drive itself.

I'm actually hoping now they cancel my April 19th cruise, I get my week vacation back, and $2500 for cruise and excursions.

I heard Carnival is also giving a credit of $600 for people with cruises of 6+ days for future bookings or onboard activities.

Oh yeah right now it's a blast. It's not worse than the other Coronas, but it is spreading worse.
    https://www.who.int/ith/diseases/sars/en/

It's actually a lot more timid than other coronas, I think that's what kicked off an initial panic was how bad other coronas have been. Then this one was like. Meh. But, there's no vaccines, like there is for seasonal flus. It should be treated a little more seriously than others, but this is a bit out of hand.

I don't think anyone here is :D looks like a good few options.

Off topic for the thread, but I don't disagree. In 10-15 years the technology may be better, where they can charge in 10 minutes from empty. The solar technology might work better as well, etc. but as it is right now, if I'm off grid and run out of charge, I need to call for help to bring a generator out to charge the truck....And, let's say I'm on a road trip even from RI to Maine, I'd have to stop for a top up for 45 minutes. Not my cup o' tea yet. 10-15 years might be dramatically different, and I'd be on board. I don't want a second vehicle if I can avoid having two, so a plug in hybrid is my ideal vehicle.

One thing about an electric pickup is you could always stash a generator in the bed for those long trips if you're not sure of the charging infrastructure.

I do think we're getting to the cusp where pure-electrics are becoming viable for a substantial part of the population. In another 10-15 years it'll be interesting to see.
