That's awesome. Good luck, seriously and as a joke. It'll be rough right now but in a few months (hopefully that's all) you'll be back at it. My family does sound masking and damping/deadening systems (think new conference rooms in an old converted mill building, etc). They're hurting right now but my mother in law was finally able to do some of the cleaning around the house she's been unable to do.

She's been going a million miles an hour for the past 10-15 years though. Once we recoup, you'll be on it.

If i can get my mortgage suspended I'll be good!! My wife still has full hours and no pay reduction so cant claim forbearance yet. Once that bill goes away I'll be able to weather quite a long storm!!

Throughout my working career, I made regular contributions to a diversified portfolio and pretty much set it on auto pilot but also bought in during times of market panic.

Now that I'm retired (4 years) it is so hard to resist selling bonds to buy equities when they are on sale, lol.

 

Already retired and still wanting to buy in times like these, lol, I hope to be in that position someday.

 

Yeah that's the biggest issue I'd have too. I'm with a big lender so I'm sure with everything happening, if I do get the ol' boot I hope that I can get that suspended or reduced at least. I have paid up a few early payments and extra principal payments so, maybe they'd consider that too?

I will say after this though, I have been working with only a 3 month e-fund, might bump that to 6 or even 9. I know it's a lot, but it's peace of mind and there's no one way to do personal financing

I HAD close to a 1yr of my salary saved up when I quit my job and then started this venture. Now not so much LOL!! Still have a good sized rainy day fund, with a mortgage forbearance and wife getting unemployment, if it comes to that, we will be fine. I think with 10yrs of on time payments and us banking with our massive lender we will be fine. I'll play the shut down small business owner and laid off airline employee card if it comes to that!!

 

When they soon announce a successful treatment for this virus, you better be sitting at your computer ready to buy, because the market will go straight up.

 

Still crazy we aren't even down to where the market was at the beginning of 2016.

Trump mentioned something about a medicine that is used to treat the measles I think? He also said it was used for arthritis but can’t remember if the alternate application was measles or not. I do know he said it is a common medicine and has been around for a long time.

 

Malaria, the wildcard is how long the FDA drag their feet to approve it. Good thing we have someone who MAY railroad them so the stock market jumps and we get back to normal as people get healed quicker.

 

Good to hear. Yeah I'm thinking find what are my needs in an emergency fund, get 6 mos full up and then +6 mos needs (mortgage, heat/electricity, cell phones, etc). and lay it out that way. Likely it'll go into a 0/100 investment account stocks/bonds. Maybe a 5/95 or 10/90 since it will be as generous as it is, but we'll see.

I'm just investing it all in now and when that happens I'll be along for the ride.

If it's an existing drug that means it's already gone through trials and whatnot. I'm all for that. But I think we need to push for a corona vaccine development, and I'm sure every drug company in the world is doing that right now to be the first to patent and bank it. In relation to this thread, that's a crapshoot for who wins and pays off vs. doesn't.

 

My friends wife works at Abbot labs and is on the vaccine team for this. I told her to hurry up our portfolios are suffering LOL!!

I think a med that works on reducing severity and length of infection in the interim will knock down alot of the economic bloodbath
