you'll get the hang of it eventually, it's like a box with the high and low price at the top and bottom. Red boxes mean the bottom of the box is the closing price for the moment, green means the top. Flip it around for the reverse. And the whiskers are simply the high and low bidding prices for that period. These tell you a lot about volume because if the volume is low, there won't be hardly any change at all in price from period to period.

I like to use yahoo finance since it's free, and has some pretty robust charting tools. There are paid tools out there that blow these away but, they cost money.

    Example of low trading volume:

    example of high trading volume:

Yea, with bonds selling off, and a rising 10yr treasury rate, flattening the yield curve, will put pressure on stocks.

I use Merrill Edge for my main trading account. If you have $100k in it, you get 100 free trades a month which helps a lot. It saves me $700 in trades every month.

I also have a robinhood account to dick around with daytrading. It’s free

Another nice thing about hsa's is that you can use them for anything health related. Massages, asprin...I've even bought new running shoes with mine. Just have to be able to justify it is health related.

People that take classes are fools.

Learn by doing. Invest the time.

I’ve been trading for a few years now and learned everything on my own cause I wanted to make sure I didn’t receive some BS. Only teacher is experience.

Now is a great time to buy, with the dip that's gone on. I don't expect to turn into a crash or recession.
robinhood is great since there's no fee per trade.. though the app as a research or charting tool is horrendous. It only serves one basic need for me and that's trading.

If you don't plan on doing a lot of day trading, I don't think classes would help anyways. A lot of those are probably finding random patterns in charts. While I think there's less science to that than art, companies that grow and have a strong balance sheet will always serve you well.

Mutual funds are a great option. Just make sure you know what fees they charge. A lot of time they charge yearly "basis points"... which is another way of saying percentage. 70 basis points, for example = .70%

Honestly, if those classes had any worth, or if the person teaching really knew what they’d be doing, they’d be rich and not have to teach that stuff.

Now if someone offers to teach you for free, then I’d be more willing to bet they know their stuff.

Yeah man, never call bottom. A lot of new bagholders created this week. Those that thought they dodged a bullet on Friday and Monday went in on Tuesday thinking the +500 made things safe, now they’re stuck. Fear of missing out created a lot of new bagholders. Stock market is criminal if you don’t have patience and understanding.

To me, after that +500 day on Tuesday, the telling sign was on Wednesday when it didn’t confirm the reversal, and actually closed slightly negative.

My guesstimate is tomorrow shorts will cover so a slight relief rally since many shorts don’t like holding over the weekend. Then Monday may be big trouble. I hope I’m wrong but this may all lead up to a Valentine’s Day massacre on Wednesday that’ll make Monday and today’s drop seem like pennies.

Need confirmation before jumping back in, and you don’t need to buy at the bottom, a bit over the bottom is just fine as long as the price movement is continually up.

Also, understanding why this all happened is key. There was an auction yesterday for 10yr bonds, and today for 30 yr bonds. Apparently no one bought. The government needs people to buy these so it can fund that big government spending they just approved. So if not enough people bought, they have to raise those interest rates to get people to buy them. So they’ll have to try again and raise those rate, thereby making the stock market less appealing since bonds are much safer and for a comparable earning. So therefore money exits the stock market. So based on what happens today, I guess that bond auction didn’t go that well.

yeah, they missed earnings so they're down a lot today. Though CHK isn't any better. Probably going to continue until earnings. Cat probably won't bounce till then :(
