    It also depends on the cost of the stock/asset you are trying to buy. Sometimes you have to wait 3 days for the $$ to clear to buy stocks less than $5...

    My instinct is people will be taking profits tomorrow before the holiday weekend...So that means the opposite will happen and stocks will go up.

    Agree, I’ve been adding to my long holds and selling the quick gainers. He says he wants to do short holds right now. So I’d think there are better days to start than today.

    Also make sure once you're into this you have your shit together for tax season...It can really add up. Anything you've held for over a year you owe 15% tax on when you sell. Anything held under a year and sold is taxed at your income tax rate. You will need to itemize each trade, buy data, # of shares, Cost, date, sell $, profit, loss...on your taxes. I just use HR bloc deluxe. The software can import your transactions straight from the brokerage account.
    The first year few years of trading this was not possible...so I would spend hours with my yearly statement filling out every transaction...so tedious...
    The great thing is the taxes on profits are UNLIMITED...but losses are limited so if you lost like 10K it could take you years to write it all off...

    yeah tax time will be fun this year. Past couple years we’ve paid someone since wife is an independent contractor. Might again this year because we have a lot of weird stuff in there. First year with a real brokerage account, tuition paid for by us this year instead of company (wife going back and I might have missed approval timeframe and have to pay for my last class....damn and blast. But fortunately it was a 1 credit). So we might pay someone this year and see what they do for next years and going forward.

    I run Turbo Tax Premier and it downloads my annual info from TDA. Easy peasy.

    Soo...I need a 6% jump in $BABA at some point tomorrow to be +$ on my calls...man did the Senate really screw me this week...I bought the $220 May 22 for $4.46...I would LOVE to see $226 tomorrow :)...my guess is they fight like bandits to keep it under $220 because there is HUGE Call open interest at $220...

    At least BABA is up after hours. NVDA beat earnings and is down after hours. I swear they are turning into Apple. If they don't beat by 15% it's not enough. I really hope the premarket treats us both well. At least I've got another month on those calls to see what happens but I was really hoping to dump them tomorrow and relax for a week. lol
