I don’t need them to be relevant long term. Just recover to half of what they were in February and I’m more than good. If they go under, it’s about the same loss to me as selling nail at 20.50 instead of whatever it’s at now.

Yall ever seen a brinks truck following a hearse?
I'm all for saving, investing and making money work for you but when your on your death bed your bank account will be of little importance.
Maybe setting up a trust for members of your family to pay for college and if you do it right might really last a long time and set them up for a good leg up in life. Or donate some percent to charity
I'd say retire when you can and take it easy and reap what you've worked hard over your life to sow

 

that dink life is kinda nice sometimes (although the dog seems to be costing as much as a kid these days).
we have nieces/nephews and for birthday/christmas they get money into a 529. the other side of their family likes to spoil them with toys and such so we see no need to add to that lol

Not at all how it worked when my wife's mother was in an assisted living facility.

While I can't say there's not some place that works like that, none of the several we looked at did anything like you describe. They were all very straightforward monthly fee based, cost depending on the level of care required.

Basically I've looked at what I would need to subsist at a very very basic level on dividends and high level research and Google searches tells me roughly 500k. Like I said I have done zero actual formal planning yet. probably should start soon.

Yeah we have family that is likely to have kids and we've thought about it. Still an unknown for us.

Yea yea, you know, if I had unlimited investment funds it would be one thing, but I don’t. So I cashed out of nail twice, the 2nd time it didn’t drop back down, so I invested elsewhere. Thankfully everything is up, so it’s not that bad. But it still stings to do the math. 200 shares. But quick math looks like those funds are up about 32% where they were invested, just not the 50% increase they’d have if still in nail. And let’s be honest, my short term investment strategy never would have let me hold past 25 had I not sold at 20.

 

No one tell him that NAIL just hit $30

 

It's killing me to watch NAIL too.
