If you look at charts, we have basically had a flat market for 2.5 years. That is worse than the result of many recessions. There are strong arguments that this began in early 2018, and now might be the time we finally break out.

oh and mexico supplies the US with a ton food during winter. so what happens with all the USA producers that didnt plant as much as they normally do now? tons of them closed up shop for good.

jun - aug food is gonna be weird I think, and well see how it goes from sept - january.

With farming timing is everything you miss a week to plant can ruin your whole crop.

Add in a labor shortage right now.

ITS FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE TO HIRE SOMEONE right now

    unemployment is too good

I'm sure it also doesn't help that there is massive flooding here in the midwest again.

I disagree with this, I'm a small business owner with zero revenue right now and I'm trying to find a job to weather the storm and I'm not getting call backs for anything. Hell if I find a good place I may just shut the biz down.

My wife is also trying to flee a sinking airline ship and striking out right now.

man you have no idea. NO IDEA. and then when unemplyment runs out for these people, what happens when all these people start applying for jobs again?

I have my own business, so obviously, im hoping wages go down lol.

But how does that affect things?

They are already talking about PAYING people MORE to GO BACK TO WORK! Like an incentive to get off of the UI. A back to work bonus. That's insane!

Now just imagine if they raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Imagine these businesses trying to pull people in the door and afford that kind of hourly wage ?

They will have to raise their prices to offset or automate as much as possible, goes back to why the min wage is a way to appease economic simpletons.

That will just adjust prices of everything up, so that what $7.25 currently buys, will cost $15.00. I am not sure how the proponents of that don't understand. This thread just keeps getting wilder today :D

Yes, and if you have a set staffing level needed to run a shop or storefront and your post covid and you're moving 50% less inventory/food etc you have to 4x prices..which means nobody makes enough to afford your goods and you go out of business or just raise minimum-wage even more, right?

Those machines are so awesome! They’re so nice like “hi welcome, please place your order” instead of the usual “whatchu want?” or “go head”

They also get the order correct every single time.

(now whether the person in back makes it correct is another matter)
