Oh, and $YINN. $YINN is a "stock" that is based off the performance of "Chinese Stocks" so it goes up when Chinese markets do well...there is also $YANG it goes up when chinese stocks do poorly (It's an inverse fund) I was saying I was shocked to see that after all the attacks on China last week including the govt passing a bill that threatens to delist (remove from the stock exchanges) Chinese stocks that don't meet certain accounting requirements (Read about Luckin Coffee for an example)...So one would expect $YINN To NOT rise 50% after a fiscal attack on china and yet it still went up.

Best advice is to buy stock in things you see people using/doing/supporting...
A lot of us are chasing the 10 bagger (a bagger is a x return on your initial investment...a 10 bagger is a stock you buy for $1 and it rises to $10) but the best thing you can do is invest your primary assets in stable index funds...Like VTI or if you are looking for dividends FRT...these are both old standards...
I have a 401K that I contribute to...and then I have my playing around stocks...This is my playing around stocks stuff...We are more likely to make short term mistakes than good decisions...it human nature. We see patterns that don't exist and chase the tails of rockets (Stocks that are up huge and you try to buy in and 'get some')
Post Covid there were HUGE opportunities to buy thousands of stocks at massive discounts. This is the type of opportunity that (I hope) only comes once in a lifetime. This was a 2nd mortgage on your house to invest in the market buying opportunity. Most people are too concerned with worrying about what others are doing at the beach without a mask or who threw what brick at what window...If they were watching their investments they could have made $$$. Most of the people in this thread are doing that. Making $$ right now because the market was artificially depressed....
I have 168% return on my account since 3/23/20 (the D-day on the market as far as I measure) and this is with one of my biggest holdings only recovering 50% (NRZ)....
I put every free bit of cash I had into the market...$NAIL $NRGU $DFEN $ABT $BMY and I also used it to get rid of a lot of garbage that was sitting around with almost no value. Because a lot of the brokerage accounts got rid of $ fees for share buys it's no longer detrimental to add small lots. I LOVE Buying 5 shares of something...5 shares of $NAIL....5 shares of $DFEN....Your money would get eaten up by fees at $7 a transaction a few years ago but now? There's no need to buy in lots of 100. This allowed me to get a 68% return (or something like that ) on HTZ. As long as it's a listed stock you can buy 25 shares at a time for $12.50 and watch what's happening...
It's a great time to be in the market!!!!!

Like I mentioned a bunch of pages back it's also deciding whether you want to be an investor or a trader. The two might seem similar but they are not.

An investor wants lower risk. They research things like market cap, PE raitos, dividends, relative strength of the sector and a whole lot more if they are a serious investor that likes to use those tools to make sure that the underlying security has upside potential. They have a plan that's usually long term. From 1 year to 30. They aren't risk averse but they do hedge any risk with mainly sticking to blue chips.

A trader assumes risk is part of every trade. They set an acceptable loss target and a profit target. They use the trading platforms automated order ticket system to set those parameters as soon as the underlying security is purchased. They don't care about PE, divs or market cap. They use indicators like MACD, VWAP, Bollinger bands, and SMA's to initiate a trade. They hold short term, from minutes to days.

I made 3 day trades this week. GNUS, WLL, and MFA. I made large purchases of 1000's of shares to leverage my return(or loss). I used VWAP and MACD to initiate the trade and set a 2% trailing stop. They all moved up then triggered the stop within 30 minutes. In less then 90 minutes of my time I returned a profit on everyone of them. 15% on GNUS, 3% on WLL and 7% on MFA. I made more in 90 minutes of work trading then I did all week at my job. lol

First and last warning. Regardless of how it does or may impact the stock market TW rules dictate that there is no politics talk on this forum. If you would like to re-frame your question eliminating any political discussion, feel free.

It can be talked around, just avoiding trigger words or names. Can be applicable in here, just need to be careful how you phrase things.
