The real truth is somewhere in the middle. The pandemic isn’t the end of the world, but it’s also not nonexistent. Same for every spun piece of news.

I lean way to the right (obviously), but I know right wing news is BS. I really wonder if those on the left really believe CNN, MSNBC, etc. I sure hope not.

 

I think that’s the problem. Enough people on each side take what they hear as the absolute truth. It’s almost always somewhere in between. I don’t see another shutdown coming. Maybe the uncertainty has something to do with the markets. I think it was a natural correction, and then the headlines get posted to it alleging it’s because of virus fear, and that causes some more people to freak out and dump stocks.

 

Yep. The classic "three sides to every store" - he said, she said, and the truth somewhere in between.

I largely avoid any television "news" except a local station which largely focuses on local stuff and seems to be fairly even handed -- seems like all the national stuff is focused on viewership rather than conveying factual information without spin. That some channels mix entertainment talkshows with newscasts also muddies the waters further between what's fact and what's opinion.

Mostly I look at a variety of sources to see what one says the others don't - and I read past the headlines which can sometimes be written in a way that conveys something different than what's really in the article.

 

My brain works in a way that I can read an article on CNN or Fox News, and filter out the propaganda and see it for what it is. I am probably a lot less on the right than I think, but I am getting pushed that way lately. I've mentioned it here before, but I read the Daily Mail for news. I can't even figure out which side they're on, some articles lean left while others lean right. They report everything though, that's how I learned about the vegan pizzas being ordered by the militia in Seattle!

I dont think there will be another shut down, the previous one was proved ineffective and recent events will be used as an example not to shut down. I would be curious to see these spikes overlayed with testing data.

Better note since the economy opening up here, my business website traffic has increased 100% and I had 2 phone interviews this week for full time jobs. So people are coming out of hibernation.
