I'm not going to do anything with my individual account for a while... it's been too frustrating trying to "snipe" the few winning stocks at the correct time.. the whole market has been treading water all year so it isn't easy to make money unless you're an expert and I'm definitely not by any means. I have not done well with finding the correct time to jump into certain positions

it was so easy last year.. at least I know I can make 2% in a savings acct

Agreed. It's frustrating being about flat YTD. Can't even keep up with inflation at this rate.

So far AAPL is doing ok, might even be green by the end of the day. I think it’s people piling in before earnings on Nov. 1.

the only thing I own in indiv acct is SHYG right now... I am afraid to look at my 401k. I think 5-8% of it is tech related.

Look at ALGN, it is down over 20% in after hours as I write this. I think it has to do with Q4 guidance, because their earnings were good. It was close to $400 not long ago, now close to $200!

Buy fear. Don’t go all in, but always slowly add to companies you’re comfortable with.

President of US meeting with President of China to discuss trade in November. Neither wants to see their markets continue the way they are.

Fed won’t increase % during this current market.

Look at Oct 2016. Elections effecting market outlook, again. Look at Nov 16.

GDP and consumer sentiment on Friday.

I’ll keep slowly adding all the way up to elections.

    Edit:
If you think the market will keep dropping then play TVIX. If you aren’t comfortable shorting the market then look at this as a buying opportunity.

I want to agree with everything but I have also been wary considering the historically low interest rates by the Fed and the creation of overinflated asset bubbles... it makes me wonder how far we can fall before reaching proper valuations. My VIIIX fund (401k) is down 3% from today

I think a lot of these companies are getting their P/E brought back to a more reasonable level. That’s probably a good thing. I mean ALGN, a braces company, had a P/E around 80, I don’t see how that was ever justified. And then there’s AMZN and NFLX. I’m glad this is happening.

well we are up today, not nearly enough though. I'm not going to change my investment allocation until after earnings season or until I see a trend. That should tell me all I need to know. If the "blue wave" comes then there will be further pain in the stock market.

What is your overall plan if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in for the long haul, so I love these dips. I load up on shares that I’d be buying regardless of price, so I get more for the money. If Apple stayed down for the next few years I’d end up with a lot more shares. Of course, in 5 or 10 years, I expect their price to be up significantly or I wouldn’t be investing.

Well, my individual account is more with extra money I have. I don't put much into it. My 401k however is a different story. If we are headed for a recession or a reduction of the "everything bubble" then I would rather not watch half my retirement savings go bye bye in the blink of an eye. I would rather put it into bonds until I see a good enough bottom. IMO we are far from there if there ends up being a sell off. We are not quite to the -6% per week in the DOW like in 2009, but we have had a couple of weeks that are pretty damn close to it.
