Oh, I guess Texas paused there next stage of reopening I guess. Other than businesses choosing to close locations, I don’t see how any mandated shutdown would happen. It’s just been a week of new cases going up, that’s the focus. Once we accept it’s mostly younger people, and many wouldn’t know they had it without testing, I think it will calm down. Just need something for people to focus on to move this to the back burner

 

Boring "news" doesn't get people to tune in.

Mornings, my wife and I watch the local ABC station while having coffee, as they do a decent job of covering the local/state specific stuff including weather and so on. They pretty much just say what's happened and do a pretty evenhanded treatment of most things.

Soon as it hits 7am though we turn it off as Good Morning America so breathlessly comes on. Can't stand how they overhype everything. Same goes for whatever the 6:30pm david muir national news show it - so over the top.

 

News has definitely evolved into entertainment television. In some ways, you can’t blame them, on most days there really isn’t much worth talking about. They need ratings, so you gotta hype things up.

I'm sure they found something to try to justify whichever direction the market moved that day.

Yeah, vaccine and/or herd immunity.

... yet I'd kinda like it to be everyone else who gets it so I don't have to... Had pneumonia once. Don't care to repeat that experience.

 

I’d be with you on herd immunity, but nothing I have found shows that’s working anywhere. But it’s not going away either. If it started with 1 person, it will be a long time before there isn’t 1 person who has it. So we can’t do much but live our lives. I’d be ok if grocery and other stores had certain hours just for vulnerable people who could wear masks and keep distance. Restaurants could have vulnerable only Wednesday’s or something. There are ways around this that don’t require the people who could die to be stuck at home forever, and allow everyone else to live life.

 

Maybe herd immunity won't work. But neither will quarantines and masks. That's really where I'm at I guess. The doctors give conflicting information every time they talk, so I have completely tuned them out at this point. Like you said, there are some ideas that can be helpful, but we must go back to living our lives completely normal.

Anyway, the point being....apparently we're on an up day, which still remainds, I have 2 more down days to play with in my prediction and today's an up day, randomly, so okay.

I didn’t think they got paid, but by saying job, I guess I did imply that. I’ll stop talking about jobs because that would get political real quick

 

Was not expecting today to end up like this, I was thinking it would be level or near enough. If NRGU hits 6 by the end of Thursday I'm out. No reason, but like, whatever it's monopoly!

 

Days like today tell me that the markets aren't moved by news as much as we probably think. They are their own mechanism, I think sentiment, over-bought, over-sold, options, shorts, pensions and retirement accounts, hedge funds, so many more things move them than headlines.
