Play that back and forth with SPY and you could make some serious cash right now.

You could probably look to the futures the night before for guidance, and buy at the end of after-hours trading, and then sell at the end of the day when you’ve made your profit. And repeat.

I just read little stories here and there about companies i'm interested in, I'm not looking for the next company to double my money, though it would be nice.

More like Ford this past week up to today, I was down 14% with ford, I put quite a bit more into Ford when down that low the same day they were going to announce their quarter and now I'm back positive, so within a week I'm positive again and my portfolio is looking nice.

I will say one of the worst things to do is get on yahoo finance, it's full of people saying get in on this gravy train on up days, and sell now before it bankrupts on low days.

I'm just feeling good now and rambling, I do enjoy this thread, but it's not active enough.

what a shit day, TVIX was down nearly 10%, now it's up 3%. Guess the optimism has faded yet again.

does anyone have opinions on mid-cap growth funds? I am thinking the large cap funds are just too heavily tech-weighted.. I want to try to get away from that. Looking at JSMTX as an alternative to VIIIX. VIIIX has a large portion of equities in FAANG.

AAPL flopped, this is why I didn't stay in VIIIX. Top holding is AAPL.

I’m down quite a bit today, I won’t say how much lol. No doubt it’ll be fine in the long run though.

Its earning report was great, and its decision to stop breaking down unit sales is also great in my opinion. It won’t allow the analysts to pick iPhone sales apart so they’ll have to focus on revenue, which is increasing with services.

The stock market is a racket, I think that’s become pretty clear when a company beats estimates and drop 7% the next day. I wonder who is benefiting from this. Actually I don’t.

Do any of you guys invest in REITs for income? I am thinking of starting a position in 5 to 10 different high yield REITs at maybe a few thousand dollars each to start a dividend stream. It would be a small percentage of my portfolio and spread between different equities I don’t think it’s too risky, it will just prohibit growth, but provide a little income.

    Any insight on this?

Haven’t done enough research myself yet but something that is on my list to look more into.

well the elections went as expected so perhaps the correction last month was a mere "pricing in" of the results. Either way, buying SQ at $67 has been paying off nicely. Earnings are today, so who knows where it'll go.
