You call it catching the tail of a rocket...You see something moving and throw $500 at it and hope you're not sitting on $200 by the end of the day...You not only have to have the balls to buy it but sometimes hold it overnight. You buy something at $2 and it's at $2.80 at the end of the day and you're like...Hmm.. 40% I'm good and cash out and then the next day it opens at $3.40...or opens at $1.75....

 

Can you let those RH guys know about the awesome potential on SRNE and INO please. I just need a quick bump to GTFO. lol

 

OK...GODHELPME I bought the SRNE Aug 21 2020 14.0 Calls on the dip for $185...I already have sells in for $225 through $265....

 

Yeah, whenever I buy something I usually have an exit strategy that says "if it goes up to x.yy, I'm selling", and if it goes up to double, triple that....oh well. Lost profits, but still got my donuts. There's otherwise a risk that your stuff could draw back and go down - for example, MESO a few days ago went down 40%. I'd rather a guaranteed 20% rather than risk the 20% gain for a 25% gain that could drop to a 4% gain, or a loss.

 

I am still amazed that Robin Hood is apparently able to move the markets (well, for some stocks). I guess the more people that invest is good for our capitalist system.

 

the other side of this is just buying something you don't mind holding LOoooong to get it back down the road...

 

It's ALMOST a legalized pump and dump machine...Social media, especially Twitter...generally will let you know what's going to be the hot stocks....Search for the $srne dollar sign and ticker symbol.

Try just setting your loss % and use that with a trailing stop.

Say you buy 100 shares of XYZ at $10 and are bullish on it. You are willing to loose 20% of your investment.

$10 x .2 = $2

Right after you make the purchase set a trailing stop with the trail at $2 at Good Till Cancel. That stop will follow that stock all the way up. If they go way up you can tighten that trailing amount to lock in more profit. If they fall right away you only loose what you where willing to loose.

 

Yup, TD does trailing stops, $ and %.

I dropped IXC today, up 7.4% in a few weeks. Dropped it and bought some CSCO (Remember, don't do what I do, and you'll probably make some dough).

 

I was trying (with TD if possible) to set it "once the stock hits $12 THEN stop loss of -$0.50 or something like that? When I set a trailing stop with an activation price above the present share price it just immediately goes to an active sell...
Like an option I bought for $1.85 I would like to set a trailing stop IF it gets to $2.25 today...But if it doesn't get to $2.25 I don't want to sell them at a loss today and I don't want to have to sit and wait for it to break 2.25...

I know I'm doing something wrong...

I just put my truck in for S&G.....WOW. I know they hold value but....WOW.

 

I know. I don’t know if they make it on the back end with in house financing or what. But what they are paying for used vehicles doesn’t seem to leave much meat on the bone.

I’m not. It could, but I’m pretty sure most of the underlying are already beyond levels from 6 months ago. It might go higher, but at this point you could find better returns in other areas. But what do I know. I sold at 20 twice. 30, and 35 or something. Basically if it went up $5 I sold I guess selling 4 times though, it worked out ok
