Trade talks concluded today, let's see what happens. Rumors of a deal being made are already making the rounds.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
I am already working my 401k for as many benefits I can get from it with a decent amount of it going into an S&P500 index fund as well as a number of other indexed and actively managed funds.

This account is going to be more of a supplemental account that I will add cash to when I have some extra to invest and maybe take some chances with. That being said I think I will probably jump in on a few individual stocks and see what happens, I want something I can watch and be a little more active with than the mutual funds in my 401k and if I ended up losing some or all it's not the end of the world.

Germany is in a recession. Looks like a 10% off coupon when my 401k money gets deposited in the next week

I bought a lot during the correction. My account balance basically stayed where it was as I added and the value dropped. That was not fun to watch. It sure is going up now, I can’t wait for a good run!

I got so used to losing 1 or 2% daily I forgot what a normal market looked like. I think we’re going back up unless the Fed decides to halt it.

You were pretty close on the 1.8%.
Doesnt the fed raising rates signal they think the economy is healthy and on track? I would think the stock market would go up on news like that.
does it go down due to people that buy stocks with adjustable rate loans?

There has been a lot of debate about whether the Fed should pay any attention to the stock market, or only the economy in general. My opinion is that if they ignore the stock market and base rates on the economy only, and it causes the market to tank, the market tanking will negatively impact the economy. That would go against the Fed’s goal and obviously not be good, so they have to look to the market at least a little bit. Jerome Powell mat act like he’s not basing rate hikes on the stock market, but I think the market is affecting his actions on rate hikes. In general though, hiking rates should mean the economy is strong.

Any predictions for this week. I think the government shutdown will end this week and we might get good news about the China tariffs and s&p will be up 4.5% on that.

I think we're gonna be rangebound for the next few months. Big runs up and down within this current range.

    I'm spinning the wheel.

Positive 1.5% give or take 2%.

(Might as well have some fun).

I enjoy this thread. Thanks guys for keeping it alive and not so serious.

    I’ll guess +1.2% this week.

I'm already positive on HTZ by 22% do you hold onto this stock knowing the targets or do you sell and be happy with where you're at?

just wondering on people risk tolerances.

"Wall Street analysts presented current consensus target price of $21.25. The price target is the price an analyst believes the stock will achieve during their investment time horizon, which for most firms is 12 months. While price targets are useful, most investors find more value in an analyst’s conviction level or in the ratio of upside to downside."

I think a common mistake is selling winners and holding losers. I have a “hold forever” mindset with dividend payers, but I’d rather sell losers and take a loss for tax purposes and let winners run up higher.

It is all about your plan though, I think that’s the most important part. Maybe sell some, like enough to make what you still hold be technically “free” and let that part run up more potentially?
