I picked up a Jan 15 2021 500c for pretty cheap yesterday. Made some money yesterday as well. Apple is up premarket today too decently. So is Tesla.......

 

come on NIO, I wanna see $20 +

 

Those are pretty low goals for something at 19.40 already. Aim for 30

 

well I’ve been in since about $3.50. It’s my best investment to date.

if it could hit half of what Tesla is doing I’d never work another day lol.

 

One of my co workers wants to start investing in ETFs. I told him most of the ETFs he’s interested in have reached their pre virus levels and will prob go down before the election and to hold off. Did I give good advice? Lol

That would have been about my guess, but honestly, who knows? They may go up or down 30% between now and then.

There's no time to invest like yesterday. If it's buy and hold, DCA over the next few months or weeks or whatever his plan/strategy is.

 

Pretty sure I can blame this thread and guys like @TreeFortRichard for my new found interest in options.

Buying/selling is pretty simple to understand, timing it and predicting it is the "skill". I haven't started messing with options yet, I sort of almost understand it, which translates to: I have no idea what I'm doing. My next venture.

 

Don't get TOO greedy...have an out price. You'll start to notice very suspicious things...Like you have a $300 option and it keeps ALMOST getting to $300 and then a bunch of wacky stuff happens and it's now back to $297...over and over...That's why when you get a nice pop OVER you should set a stop loss...Also if you own multiple contracts sell 1/2 and keep 1/2...

Only thing I wish it had is a trailing stop loss on derivatives. I found and use it on securities, but if it's there for derivatives, I can't find it.

 

Hmm. I think I remember someone saying webull doesn't do trailing stops for options.

 

TD has them but only through the think or swim desktop program...And if you set one and then look at your open orders on the regular web interface it won't show ANY of your open orders..you get an error page...also the Stop loss option orders I think can only be set for same day and not good till cancelled...

 

Should've done that with my 8/28 calls.
Or set a trailing stop loss if I could.
I literally sold in the parking lot when I got to work.
Still holding on to the shares and my 10/16 call


It's amazing the difference in the earnings when you call something right on options vs securities.
