Invisible mask / Clear Bra install questions...

i have chips and dents with a clear bra on my fender....no rusting.

 

if there's no rust before there'd be no rust after. The paint isn't really the main rust protection anyway. Its just a pretty front line, prone to chipping anyway. There are other coatings doing that under the paint. So, its a matter of how chipped it is. I imagine if its borderline, that once the film dries, it helps protect the thin spot from air and moisture and other high ph problems.

On that note.. saw an explorer the other day with the paint bubbling up all over the hood. but where the paint flaked off, it exposed powdering zinc not rust.

 

its always good to touch up the rock chips before you install the PPF. We will use paint and in some applications crayons (if you can find one to match your paint).

 

I worry that chips might be places where the paint could pull up upon removal. The stuff comes off fairly easy.. but its not because its not sticky.. Like I said. I had it pull off some paint on the edge of my fender on my goat.

 

I asked my Toyota dealer about this. The salesmen don't know anything about it, it's an add on that they pitch to you when they do your paperwork, which tells me that it's a huge profit item for them. My dealer wanted $650 to install it. I'm gonna look elsewhere and consider doing it myself.
