I've been an iOS developer beta user since I can remember. I'm used to issues with the iOS and connected devices.

However, now I am on the public-release non-beta version of iOS 11.0 and I am having a big problem with my head unit. Every 3rd or 4th time I get a call on bluetooth, the radio behaves strangely. It will start to show an incoming call, and when you answer (using steering wheel or on-screen controls) it will answer on the phone, and display "Headset Mode" on the head unit. When you click the button to turn that off (or just leave it), the system becomes unlinked from the phone and becomes non-responsive and reboots. TWICE. And then it's back to normal until the next reboot. I'll try to catch a video of it if I can.

I'm getting really frustrated because I've dealt with this for months. I want some of you all to give feedback so I can gauge if it's my head unit or a systemic problem (and we are stuck waiting for an update).

Do any of you have similar problems?

I’ve got the same issue. It wasn’t present in the first couple public betas but has happened in every release since.

The worst part is when it crashes the head unit, it resets a bunch of my navigation settings.

Sorry to hear this. Thanks for the warning guys, a lot of us are probably going to hold off on the IOS 11 update as a result. Please update when you find out more!!

Also I should add, I’ve done the unpair / pair / reset / reboot game and it’s made no difference. I did notice in my Bluetooth connection it no longer said “Toyota Tacoma” it had changed to car accessory system or something. That’s fixed now but it’s had no effect on the actual issue.

For anyone interested in mobile security, don't install iOS11. When you "disable" Wi-Fi or Bluetooth it no longer turns off the radios. It simply disconnects you from the wifi or bluetooth connection. It is still active and searching for connections. I noticed this when I turned off wifi when at work, and then I went home and wifi turned back on by itself. I turn it off and within a minute it was back on and connected to my other wifi SSID. So I turned it off again. When I got to work, it was back on and connected to my work Wifi.
So why is this an issue? Because your phone will talk to open/unsecure networks whenever it finds one and this is how malicious content can be exploited on your phone or data can be taken from your phone without you ever knowing.
The Mozilla guys, I think it was them, set up a store front in New York that had a bunch of displays in the window that were connected to a router that was setup to take screen captures from phones that had their wifi on and polling for connections.

They'll come out with an update within a week or two - they always do after iOS "upgrades".

It's not an oversite, it's done on purpose. Most Apple users aren't conscious of security concerns and even IT people still think Apple devices are immune to malware and hacking, when it's proven time and time again, that Apple products are easier to break into than Windows and Android devices (that are properly patched).
The leaving of wifi and bluetooth on all the time is so that they can map your activities and sell the information. All those I Agree things everyone agrees to, states that they can collect data from your device and use the data to "improve" the functionality of their services. It just happens that improving the functionality includes selling info to make money to pay for programmers.
Smart home devices that respond when you say a word, like Alexa are sending back EVERYTHING they here to their servers. 1984 wasn't forced on us, we invited it into our lives.

How are you disabling wifi and bt? If you're toggling them through the Control Center, it is designed to behave exactly that way. To disconnect you to the current connection, but not completely turn off wifi or BT. If you want to completely turn it off, you have to go into Settings and then toggle it off there. It's a convenience thing especially for BT. Prior to iOS11 I had a hard time switching my headphones between the phone and iPad or laptop, but now I can simply toggle BT from the CC so that way the phone doesn't have to keep stealing the connection.

Luckily for me iOS11 has fixed entune issues i had with text messages. They now display all of the time and if the truck is in motion and I hit the "read" button it automatically goes to play the message for me. This has worked 4 days in a row and I hope it continuous to work.

I turn it off from the settings menu. I don't really use Bluetooth so I haven't tested with it but I am putting the new OS through it's paces as far as connectivity so we know it won't screw with any of our apps at work.
The wifi issue is bothersome because we are having issues that older OS had where if it connected to an active WiFi access point, but that access point doesn't have internet access the phone has no connection because it prioritizes WiFi over cell.

I have updated. No issues as of yet for me. The Bluetooth now displays my contacts photos too for when I receive or make calls after ios11. I thought that was cool

I downloaded and installed IOS11 last night. I havent had the FW flashed on the HU and I tested it out this morning about 10 or so incoming calls and I didnt have the HU react like your experience. Could it be the flash on the HU and the IOS11 together be an issue? Mine is currently working like it should. I have the premium, Non-JBL. FW version

Android has done this for 4 major point releases now. It's normal. The devices goes into a Rx only mode. Don't update if you want, but it ain't changing. lol
