Just updated to IOS 18 and CarPlay audio isn’t working correctly . Only plays audio out of one speaker now.

I haven't noticed that, but I am having a lot of random connection issues with CarPlay.

My 2024 has ever only played out of one speaker... before and after iOS 18

EDIT: Siri and voice commands have only played out of one speaker. Music and podcasts and phone calls play out of all speakers

Latest iOS, never had any CarPlay issues. Only issue, if I’m parked waiting for someone, if I open Facebook or YouTube, Spotify stops playing. Does the same home too though.

Works perfect here. No issues. I use CarPlay, Waze and SiriusXM. All no issues.

The new voice control feature was the culprit. Once I turned that off audio went back to normal.

I oversee or supervise mobile at scale - 200+. Our test devices old and new hardware and a whole lot of apps are actually doing well with this rollout. Our group of near 1000 employees part of around 19,000 total are not reporting problems that stand out. My staff does most of the hands on with this stuff but I'm in the loop for any and all problems.

One element to know was already said by @bigd9247 and another thing that always occurs with the big updates is the time for the device to re-index. This time of year typically has a whole lot of app updates so that is a battery burner and feel it performance thing for some.

Sadly, same Toyota firmware issues are still there for me. The having to re-enable for CarPlay and at times Bluetooth not connecting. I've made other posts here and on another forum for my testing that with different devices and software versions.

Perspective and context are always important. Apple has around 2.25 billion devices activated. Of course that means some will have problems. If the problems were as bad as some will say or think, we'd have transportation, health care and other industries collapsed.

    How do you do this?

I have intermittent issues with my 2020 when I have my iPhone 15 plugged in.
Sometimes it will work and then sometimes it won’t (Siri voice commands and phone calls). It’s driving me crazy.

Is this a new setting that appeared with IOS 18? Because I’m still on 17.6.

Important PSA. Run the 17.7 update that does not take you to new features but addresses security and vulnerabilities.
