    For those of you having this issue on a PC...it appears that uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 10.5 is working.

    I just did that for my buddy here in the office and his iPhone appears to be updating successfully so far. Haven't tested the iPad yet.

    I would try Restoring the phone again, and this time look for a previous backup in the drop-down.

    If you don't have any...I'm sorry to say that you may be SOL...:sorry:

    Now that I think about it, I think if you go into iTunes > Preferences > Devices, you can view the backups it still has. It may not be that exact path, but it's something similar to it.

    I know!

    Updating our Dev iPhone 4 now...fingers are crossed. I purposely uninstalled iTunes 10.5, rebooted, defragged, rebooted and the reinstalled it before syncing so I'm hoping it works...

    Our Dev iPhone 4 (AT&T 16GB, previously on Dev iOS 5) was successful.

    My buddy is still having issues with his iPad. Apple recommended that he clear his backup cache (go into Devices and delete all of them) and then try it again.

    Obviously, only do that if your data is backed up somewhere else before.

    We'll see if that works...

    it finally worked!! the only thing that had trouble was my ringtone. I had The Red by Chevelle as my ringtone and it didn't transfer over for some reason. :(

    I don't think my ringtones have ever transferred over after updating. I've always manually had to go back and put them on the phone, but once they're there, they're assigned to who they're supposed to be.

    You can check to see if you have any backups stored in iTunes that just aren't registering after the restore.

    If you go into the "Devices" menu, you should see a list of them somewhere in there. Sorry for being so vague, but I haven't had to do this in a while so I forget exactly where they are.
