I have an otterbox defender on my 4s. I'm not worried as much about water as I am dropping it. The otterbox does well with taking hits. I dropped it 25 feet out of a scissor lift onto stones and it survived. Is the lifeproof case as durable and protective as the otterbox?

 

Lifeproof is Mil Spec , so yes

 

I've dropped my Lifeproof who-knows-how-many-times. Highest was about 10 feet. Not a scratch on the phone. Just small nicks on the case. After a day or so, you can't even tell ya dropped the case.

Wife and I have both dropped ours as well. I've gotten all kinda of farm and garage grime on mine and it comes clean and works fine with little to no effort.
The only complaint I could have was that the mute switch part of the cover tore on both phones. Couple days ago my wife e-mailed them and last night they shipped out our new cases.

I'm wicked pleased with them as a company, both for product and service!!

 

My mute switch hasn't ripped yet. I've had it since February. But I was very happy with their service when the rubber right in front of the power button ripped this week. I've talked about 6 people into buying one, and I'll definitely keep recommending them.

 

You do realize that you pay the difference over your 2 year contract, right?

 

it's hidden in your plan rates...but if you bought the phone out right, would the cost of your plan be less?? it's not that way here in canada, cost of the plan remains the same whether you sign up with a contract or not. So it doesn't make any sense to buy the phone outright, unless you don't plan on sticking with one provider

 

Rates and fees are the same with or without buying it outright....either way my wife pays the bill; so I am win win!

 

OZ, is there anywhere in Vancouver that sell these...definitely interested now after looking at the web site...I just want to see one in person to see how they are constructed.

I'll probably get one once they're available.

Never mind about Vancouver stores carrying it...should have just kept looking on the site. I guess Future shop and best buy carry them!

 

Amazon sells them, too, and for like $20 cheaper than Lifeproof.
