I spent more than necessary for some stuff but that's the difference. I would much rather have more welder than not enough. 200 ampish.

So guys I was looking at frame plates and it looks like they kinda just band-aid the problem. Is that right ? Like does it just lay over the problem or do you actually remove the outside wall of the frame and replace it ? It may be the answer to my problem. except my crack goes around the top of the frame

My thoughts are add a plate to the outside covering the area that is cracked and at least a few more inches on each side. Trail Gear sells a rear frame reinforcement plate and I am sure others do as well. Looks like it would cover that area where you have issues.

If the top is also cracked I would add a plate there as well. You could cut a plate from a sheet of 3/16" steel.

I think your right and yeah CBI makes one for 69.99 but I'm worried that the part I cover will spread and then the plates will fall off. However I will be spraying my frame with chassis saver once I get all the work done on the frame

I would pull your bed off and investigate further. Unfortunately you are bound to find more problem areas. While your bed is off I would air scale the shit out of everything and look for bad areas.

I'll be bed lining it next weekend and will hopefully have some chassis saver so I can have a reason to clear off all the rust , I would hate to clear it off just to have more appear

Also Kurt if you still have that vin checker deal can you run mine ?

Here is the donor frame after the car wash. The dirty areas you see are the coating that was applied at the dealer. It was inspected and treated back in 2005. I am unsure of the time spent in the salvage yard but they said they have had the truck for "quite awhile".

Not sure what your wanting to know.

Timing belt replaced at 207,000 at Toyota of Lincoln
Starter replaced at 201,000 at Toyota of Lincoln

There are a few other minor things that show up. The only stuff reported is maintenance from 2009-2010. Not sure if only stuff done at a dealership shows up or not.

here is the website that you can sign up for free to add your vehicle....
