Why a 2WD? There are ALOT of older 2nd gens or even an older 4runner with 4WD for sale cheap.

You'll probably never kill that car! I know you take good care of your vehicles, so I expect that thing to hit a half million easily.

4runner sounds good, kind of wanted one of those
the 4wd Tacoma beds are a bit high for me getting stuff in and out of the back from the side
i cannot even palm the bottom without a real big stretch!

i took my truck into the dealer to get a complimentary alignment check last week, its slightly off but not real bad
they were very concerned with the fluid film i had sprayed all over the front passenger side parts, they very much wanted to wash it off and check for leaks. they had never saw this stuff before when i told them what it was.
they also were very hesitant on me walking right back into the garage to see what was taking them so long, i was there for more than an hour!

i don't know, this is my 5th Toyota vehicle in 30 years, incl. one trade-in after 2 years
if the Tacoma was driving & handling like the other 3 were at this age and mileage i most likely would be on the hunt,
already i am on the hunt for a new or slightly used fuel efficient car to replace the '96 Corolla, which has a lot of problems lurking, engine rattles, leaky fuel tank, horrific front suspension my brother-in-law tried replacing. and probably the whole back trunk is going to rust right off as bad as its getting

but the truck, and I kid you not, basically drives and handles the way it always has, with very low mechanical maintenance other than reg. scheduled factory rec.
the Corolla has also received the timely maintenance but is slowly dying like the other cars i had in the past. It could be because it has been a very heavily used city car (stop and go) while the truck is not so much, more long distance highway (mostly through IOWA!)

so i don't know if its just me that thinks this truck handles amazingly well at its age or if its a 1st gen phenomenon I was not aware of until TW, meaning that these trucks can pack some major miles on them with minimal maintenance other than those routine changes!
:notsure: it baffles me from my prior experiences

this picture here i would like to think demonstrates that the truck is NOT a 'garage queen'
an abrasion from the plastic drop-in liner that had been getting worse over the years right at the edge that hopefully the LineX took care of!
now i have to focus on the underbelly which has become a monster task, over six months of DD so far
i just found a semi-serious issue inside the frame yesterday i need to figure out what to do with it ... accumulation of wet sand clumps from the abrasive blasting i did this summer/fall

'97 bedliner off oxidize rear pass.jpg
that brown clump on the bed surface is not rust, just a bunch of neighbors tree stuff (cotton i think) that found its way in there from the rope hook access holes

On another note. Sup my fellow wanderers? Bored on the island, which is super quiet. Surprised to have seen two green-suiters today.

    you mean with the blizzard?

have i mentioned how Iowa has had the opportunity to take my life at least twice
once on the weather related i-80 ditching incident
and the many many times my Dad took the family camping near Little Sioux ... and forcing us to sleep in a flood plain :anonymous: ... literally

Nice, what do you do for a living? If you don't mind me asking.

The snow is fine, the -30*+ is not ok.
