Totally agree. I had a 2005 Tacoma and when I was looking for cars, so many of them had lots of road / cabin noise and rides that weren’t great. I stumbled into the IS and after I drove it, that was the only thing I’d consider driving if it wasn’t my truck.

I mean, you can get new 4runners for 35k, and they're pretty nice and quiet.

Obv nothing compared to a Lexus lol

My advice would be to not drive a GX460 if you want a 4Runner... LoL Once you've experienced how smooth the V8 is you won't even want to consider the 4Runner.

PS - You can get a very nice GX460 for $35k.

We gave $16k for our GX470 and I knowingly overpaid a bit because I didn't want it to sell.

What do people complain about in 4runners? Not enough power. What has more power? A GX with the 1UR-FE.

You might want to wait! the 2021 is suppose to get 20-30 more horsepower from the factory. You might want to look into that as well!

I think he’ll be fine. It’ll make like 400 more hp when he’s done with it

The LX is an order of magnitude more expensive. Even used. In my opinion they are also to big. Unless you need to haul a school bus worth of kids or want to tow with it, the GX is a better driver in my opinion.

I did consider that as they '21 will start shipping in June. The catch to that is, only dealers that are clearing their lots of the '20s will be allocated the '21s. The horsepower isn't really what I'm concerned about. What had me considering the '21 is that it has a motor closer to what the M2 has with a different turbo and exhaust manifold. However, my Supra will be making about 70WHP more than stock as soon as it's broken in. I can also get a really good deal on the '20 whereas they won't be letting the '21s go cheap for a while after they drop. I don't think the advantages of the '21 will outweigh the $7k+ I will save on the '20. Most of my mod list will cost will cost about that.

That V8 will definitely spoil you. Going from my V8 4runner to the '15 Tacoma was a massive downgrade in power. Sure, the horsepower was close. But, the torque from the 4.7 is just everywhere. It's effortless at any RPM.

The new 4runner is definitely an improvement over the Tacoma, but I still miss the torque of that v8. I definitely don't think I could live with the 3rd gen Tacoma drivetrain.

More like 450RWHP on my first round of mod's. 550-600 after I upgrade the to the Pure800 turbo. :D

The 3g auto sucks and needs new gears. The MT is solid.

Even with MT, my understanding is that the motor doesn't make any power until about 4K RPM'S. that would be totally unacceptable for me.

Then 800 RWHP after the POS BMW motor grenades and you swap in a 2JZ. ;)

Drive my truck sometime. It makes power from idle and screams all the way to 7200 rpm in 2nd gear (70+ mph)

If I had no power under 4K, I’d have gotten rid of it lol

The B58 stock internals are good to 1000RWHP. So I don't think that will happen. LoL Not that I wouldn't consider it should I have problems with the B58. The only problem is that I'd have to add port injection when it becomes available if I wanted to make over 700RWHP and/or if I wanted to run E85 passed about 600RWHP.

If this was true, then the gearing on the auto wouldn't be an issue. And, there wouldn't be like 900 threads of guys complaining about it.

But, maybe I'll go drive one for shits and giggles and make up my own mind.

For what it's worth, I can't complain too much about mine..... It isn't perfect but it isn't as much of a problem, for me, as a lot of these post make it sound.

You won't like the stock tune. Drive one that's been tuned. OVTune has unlocked the low end of the 3.5
