The main thing is your heat and wire speed setting need to be set properly. Then you just train yourself to see where you need to go and move at a constant pace. If you can keep your hands stationary and not weld vertical, the welds will be much easier.

Welding to the rack might prove difficult. It's probably not plain steel, might be tempered or a hard alloy of some sort. It's hard to figure out how much heat and penetration you get on odd metals.

Actually the week after Christmas I will have an entire heated garage if people want to work on several different vehicles at the same time? Maybe play buck hunter and drink keg beer?

Yes, I always put a couple hundred pounds in the back of my 2wd. Right over the rear axle.

Saw a black 2nd gen lifted on black wheels with spare mounted in bed and offroad lights on the front? On Hickman? Anyone on here?

Got the steering rack done this weekend, the poly bushings I installed are awesome. Took the vibes out of the steering wheel, nice and tight turning. Also dropped a bead on both of the inner tie rods to keep them in place. At the alignment shop now... hope it goes well...

Alignment is finished, not crazy about the results, but it at least drives normally again. I wanted the caster to be in the 2.5 range, instead I got 1.7 on the left and 3.4 on the right...

How they got 3.4 is what I'm wondering... I thought they maxed at 1.7. That's why you need UCAs to get the desired 3.

I've got LR uppers that are set at 2 to begin with... I feel like they just don't really care what I have to say about getting it to 2.5, cuz it shouldn't be hard.
