    Short story/experience to share.....

After a Sunday afternoon of wheeling I decided to take my truck to a car wash in West Des Moines. I usually don't take it to a car wash. The only place the truck had much mud was on tires. (Ryan can attest to this) I took my truck off the trailer and drove it slowly about 50 yards to the bay. My 5 year old son and I were putting quarters in the machine when a guy comes toward me and starts yelling at me "NO, NO way". Thinking to myself who is the guy and what am I doing wrong? He says "get that out of here, your not washing that here, this is my business and you need to clean that mess up".(refering to the dirt that my tires had left from the trailer to the bay) I said then I need my money back. I also asked him if there was a sign saying I couldn't because I didn't see anything. He started cussing and complaining that he shouldn't have to put up a sign about everything he didn't want done at his business. I said "sir, could you please not cuss, I have a 5 year old with me". He continued talking that way anyway. I told my son to go get in my tow rig and I proceeded to clean his driveway with a shovel that he handed me. His wife asks me if I would treat other businesses this way. I was thinking to myself if it was a car wash yes. I told her that I have washed my truck many times and never had a problem. I ended up getting about a half a shovel of dirt from the 50 yards and I put it on my trailer. During this time he starts taking pictures of my tow rig plates and makes a comment that oh I don't see trailer plates. I went back to the bay and slowly drove my truck out and loaded it on the trailer. The guy comes over and hands me my 6 quarters and states now I have to get someone to clean this place up. I saw him and his wife cleaning the trash bags out while they were there. I stated, maybe you should keep the money since you seem to need it. Suprisingly he did apologize for cussing in front of my son. Isn't cleaning the place part of the cost of running a car wash? I have a friend that works full time for a car wash doing maintenance and cleaning.

So your choice if you want to use The Whistle Stop car wash or not. They might blow the whistle on you for something and say your not welcome.

It was tough not to lose it. Perhaps the only thing holding me back was having my 5 year old, that I need to be a good role to, standing next to me.

I didn't mention in my first post about this that in the bay next to me there was a guy spraying a lawn mower on a trailer. He had elementary to middle school aged kids with him that had peeked their heads in our bay a couple of times. Not sure if they heard this jerk yelling at me or not.

Hmmm...sounds like he needs a little more business. He should be made the official car wash for all of your buddies after they cover their rigs in mud on wheeling days.

I think I sold the car already. A guy at work offered me more money for it so I'm thinking of selling. I want a Honda or toyota anyway, and more free cash means I can get a better one.

For sure, getting the exact same mileage as I got in the Taco too, so I'm definitely pleased with the trade.
