Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to make another iPad mini dash piece. I am going to order all the parts needed and when everything has been delivered I am going to see exactly how long it takes from start to painted finish to make it. This will give me the most accurate data to base pricing off of. I have received numerous PM's from you all wanting me to make and sell you a dash piece, so once this one is completed I will have it up for sale and I will have a price for it when it is completed which will be based off of parts plus labor time at $30/hour.

I think it is most fair to sell this first dash piece to the first person that had PM'd me wanting to buy one, even though I did have offers up to $450 which is more than I anticipated on selling them for. It's hard to keep track of who expressed interest in the thread without sending me a PM, so I apologize but I'm not going to go back through the 9 pages of this thread. I will be sending a PM back to the first person that originally PM'd me so you will know who you are. After this one I will know if I am going to be able to devote the time to making more and taking orders. I will also post details to ordering at that time, but for now I am only going to make one more dash piece.

Anyways, I am going to order everything on Monday so depending on how long it takes to get everything delivered, I should be able to have it made and shipped to the buyer in time for Christmas! :) Also, thanks again for all the comments and compliments on my work! I really appreciate all the positive feedback!

So could you post a DIY for this project with the exact stereo and all parts listed out? There's no way I could afford the total price tag on this buying it from you ($400+ for the iPad, ~$400 to you for the dash, plus the stereo..) but if I can make it myself I'd seriously consider this...

This is just a fit check right now. Got some fab work to do still. The OP can probably tell you what you lose if anything. I will be using the same stereo he is using the Sony GS600bt. It looks like at worst you lose the USB/aux input but with the new stereo and ipad you really dont need to use it anymore. My main reason for this install is for desert navigation. I will be using the ipad with the GPSkit app. It works great on my phone but the phones small screen makes it a bit tough to navigate when hauling ass across the desert. The larger screen will make it easier to follow the gps tracks.

Did you just got rid of that "boxy" part in the back, or was it a minor trim only?

The "boxy" part and a little more. It didn't need to be cut any wider just a little taller and the center tab has to be cut off as well

Lowered 3/4, debadged, led tails, projector headlights with hids, billet grill, blacked out windows, painted front and rear bumper and grill shell. Inside, 4 crappy 15's, suede wrapped headliner and door panel inserts, alpine double din, few painted pieces inside, and every led is either blue or white.
Great work op. You did an awesome job making it look as if it were factory. Now can you use bluetooth for hands free calling with the sony deck?
