I would offer that there is a choice, iPhones are not the only devices used for portable communications. You seem to make the case for trying something different if you've been screwed pretty good over the years.
Not knocking you, just an opinion from the outside looking in.

I used my phone for work purposes. Received calls, scheduled and view appointments, and browse the internet with it. My phone allowed me to do all of that and fit in my pocket. It was the best option. One iOS update stopped the iPhone calendar from syncing with the google calendar, which was what I used to make appointments. I could still do it from google on the browser or the google calendar app but it wasn’t as easy and I also didn’t get the alert reminders the way I did using the calendar. Also another one that stopped my emails and had a bunch of other things wrong. Then the patch for that ended up causing other issues. Phone was all jacked up for a couple of weeks.

Just about any operating system has some type of bugs. Google has their share. Apple has been getting bad. Look at all the windows blenders over the years. All it takes it one little error in a code and it can screw a lot of things up. I remember programming with C++, Java, HTML, ~ 15 years ago in school. Programming is a lot more advanced now and it was a big pain in the ass back then. And I could only do real basic stuff. Couldn’t imaging trying to write program script for an entire OS. I can understand what they have to go through.

Mine worked fine until I upgrade to IOS 13.1.*, I forget which. It resets constantly when the BT is connected. When it is not connected, the head unit works fine. I think it is the BT upgrade from Apple that is causing an incompatibility. I havent patched the head unit either.

    (Sorry meant 13.1 and greater)

That's the first I've heard of iOS 11 (or anything lower than 13) causing such problems. Apple acknowledge some BT issues with 13 and ran through a number of dot releases with most mentioning BT issues being fixed. So yeah, I think it's a OS issue.

Mine seems to be okay now with 13.2.2 but just wondering if this is more prevalent with the JBL head units or is it across the board with both the standard and premium head units.

I upgraded to 13.2.2 yesterday and had a couple of good calls without a drop. We'll see...

My 2019 Navigation/jBL will reboot every minute. If the Bluetooth is off- it will not reboot. If the Bluetooth is on it will. They told me about 90 days to get a new update. What should I do about not having the Bluetooth/navigation work for that long? That seems a little long for that many days to be without something that I upgraded for.

So I had an iPhone 8 Plus and had absolutely no connection issues with Entune. I upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro Max and now it wont stay connected longer than 15 or 20 seconds. The call is still connected on the phone, but the blue tooth drops. Super annoying.

not sure if it’s a connection issue with the iPhone 11 or just the IOS but I’m running 13.1.3 and that doesn’t work only every minute..... the Bluetooth won’t stay connected since the whole system reboots.

I had the dealer update my head unit, then had to remove iphone info off it too.
Then updated to 13.2.2 on my iphone7,
Re paired and seems ok so far.

I updated iPhone to 13.2.2 and I still have the constant reboot. I also checked here to see if there were any updates and guess what, there are not any. So I guess Ill take it to the dealer and see if they any ideas. Seems like a software incompatibility to me....

Reported issue to Toyota via website

What was interesting is that Toyota definitely knows about this issue because they had a whole custom form to collect data and artifacts. If I hear anything back, Ill post it.

I was using it as a point of reference to illustrate it might be an iPhone problem alone. No one asked you to be a dick, but there you are.

I don't thing he was trying to be a "dick". We are discussing Apple phone problems and us Apple folks get a little annoyed when brand X users try to make it about the gear we've bought with a "I have and Android and everything is rosy." Like we're stupid for buying Apple products. I don't think that was your intent, but I'm just pointing out how comments like that can come across. Apple issue or Toyota issue, there is an issue which the two should work together to fix. We pay a pretty good premium for tech in these trucks and I for one want it to work as advertised.

I had dealer update software. Your 17 may be still under the 3 yr waranty so it shouldn’t cost you 75$.. my IOS is now 13.2.2 and had to re pair after removing it from the head unit. Still good after that. There is a link for updates from Toyota someplace, I deleted. Might be able to find it again if u need it
