iPhone 8/X wireless charging dock locations + pad/dock suggestions!

If you've been camping in your truck too long; an iPhone 8 and X can charge without wires. This requires a pad usually or a dock.
So far I've bought a pad and plan on attaching it via Velcro so long as the pad doesn't let the iPhone slip too much on it, and I also plan on buying a down angle micro-usb cable and using the edge of the trim I can hide the wire as much as possible.
One sad thing is you can't have a magnet or metal on the case however they apparently work through very thick cases such as the otterbox.
Does anyone have one in their truck? Preferably 2nd gens.
