hello everyone. New member here. I recently purchased a 2019 taco off road (5 days ago actually). I’ve run into a couple issues that maybe someone here might have some insight about. 1. I keep losing my audio connection with my iPhone 8. I’ve paired my phone and sometimes when I start the truck it says “can’t connect to audio player”. The phone works (I can make and receive calls). But I can’t play music. Turning the vehicle off then on again fixes the problem. Very strange. It’s happened probably 5 times in 5 days now. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to fix it? 2. Has anyone noticed that wireless charging is a little weak. It charges very very slowly and if I’m playing music it’s basically charging at the same rate as it’s draining. Also the phone needs to be placed in the front of the charging compartment. If I put on the brakes hard or for some reason the phone slides even a little bit forward it stops charging. Again, anyone experiencing this? Thanks! And other than these small annoyances I absolutely LOVE this truck!!

I'd try seeing if another phone has the same strange connection issue you are having. I do not have an iPhone, however, I cannot say I've seen any connection problems with my Samsung Note 9. Wireless charging also works well, perhaps the case you are using is thick and the connection is poor? When my bud puts his iPhone on my wireless charger, his silicon case causes the pad to go crazy, stops working for a few minutes.

Yeah, same thing happens to me. Sometimes my iphone 6s seems to lose its connection to the car I think it's happened to me 3-4 times since last September when i got my truck. I typically just use the forget network option in the phone and reconnect manually again to fix the issue.
Another issue i run into is like 90% of the time when i try to charge my phone(wire) in while the truck is on I'll lose connectivity with the bluetooth, yet it says the music is still playing on my phone.

Can't say about the wireless charging since i don't have wireless charging on my phone.

Just took case off. Doesn’t fix the charging issue. Not sure if it will help the audio connection issue. I guess I’ll find out if and when it happens again.

Tried deleting your device out of the system memory and reconnecting?

I have a 2nd gen and this is a constant thing for me. It will randomly connect later as I’m driving or other times I’ll have to unpair and pair it again. The head unit also just randomly restarts. Toyota has done the “update” but still a daily struggle.

I get this every once in a while. I just hold the power on the radio to hard restart it then it works fine.

My experience with the wireless charger has been identical. I never use it now-days.

Same random audio connection issue with my iPhone 8 Plus. My 7 Plus did it too. I finally gave up trying to find a solution and loaded all my music on a thumb drive.

Would love to know the cause.

Sorry you have connection issues. I’ve not had any with iPhone. Maybe reboot the phone just to see if is phonsiide and delete any old Bluetooth connections you no longer need.

For Qi charging, the protocol calls for slower than cable charge to keep temperatures down and because induction is less efficient. And placement on any pad is dependent on location, I’m sure you noticed this on your in-house Qi chargers too.

Do you run into this problem when you plug it into the USB charger? Mine tries to connect through the USB cable. if I don't plug it in when I turn the car on it connect through blue tooth no problem.

No problems with my old Samsung S8 or my newer S10. Charger isn't super fast but it isn't as bad as described.

This makes sense, I've never used a Qi charger before so I had nothing to compare to, thanks!

If i plug phone into the USB then it plays through USB fine. (But of course now I'm no longer connected via Bluetooth.)

I ask because I had this issue with my 2015 and my iPhone XR once, clearing the phone out of memory and reconnecting fixed it and it hasn’t been and issue since. Wouldn’t suggest this as a repetitive fix.

Delete any other phones that are on there. Un-sync your phone then re-sync. The Qi charger is worthless, charges slow, heats up the phone, very finicky on placement. Use the USB.

Have you tried a soft reset on your iPhone? In quick succession—
    - Press and release volume up
    - Press and release volume down
    - Press and hold the power button until the phone restarts, don’t let go until you see the Apple logo

I’d probably remove the device from the truck, “forget” the BT connection on the phone and try the above steps. :fingerscrossed:

Thanks for the help! I also checked and it seems there are no updates available for the 2019 entune system (yet).

I have the same problem. Happens 2-3 times a week. I've tried everything I can think of, including removing my phone from the radio and re-pairing it. Nothing helps except re-starting the truck.

It also disconnects if I don't start playing music within a minute or 2 of starting the truck.
