So if Apple/Google/Microsoft create intentional security backdoors in their products, we have to automatically assume everyone with an interest in that will eventually be able to get inside. "Bad guys". Foreign adversaries. Hostile governments. Even bad actors in our own country.

Totally agree. On the surface of seems reasonable for the govt to want to unlock one special phone. But we all know damn well it won't stop there.

I am precariously balancing over the line of political posts, so I will quit right there...

You and I and I would assume many others are as well. To me, it's a fine line between security and privacy.

My thoughts on the matter are borderline against the rules I am here to enforce.

There is a parallel between this and another very sensative subject regarding the Second ammendment.

People are asking a company to give in and accommodate the investigators for the sake of the privacy of everyone else.

Now, if they were to begin to bring up the idea of going after the weapons we have at hand I honestly believe there would be a significant voice of opinion.

Privacy is a right we have to ourselves and to violate that in the name of terrorism and national security is a solemn violation of the inherent rights of all citizens.

Both shooters weren't Americans. Here on Visa's. 2nd amendment does not apply to them.
